Nice! I never find anything cool. If it where mine I would have found old cigarette butts.

Thanks from TCAF, Hamstrosity, brianns and 2 others

Yes hold oil on one end and grease on the other. Has little metal piece to put it only where you want it.

As stated by others, it holds the grease and oil used to keep the rifle running.

The larger end held oil, the shorter end, held grease.

The tube was stored in the butt stock of the rifle along with various tools necessary for maintaining the rifle.

The M1A has similar storage holes in the butt stock, depending on the type of stock.

Thanks from Lurp

I sent several home from Afghanistan. I found them in MARTINI butt stock compartments!

Awards Showcase

Nice find... Back in the day when I got my first M1 from the DCM, a Mercury head dime was discovered under a few patches in the stock well of my M1. I have it (the dime) somewhere....

Thanks from TCAF

Thanks all. I had to bang the buttstock on my reloading bench to dislodge it. It was in there all the way to the end and fit pretty snugly. If I hadn't of shined the flashlight down the holes, I probably would never have ever seen it. The CMP just seems to keep giving!!

Thanks from Phil McGrath
