How about your favorite books and articles about the history and development of the Garand, too?

The Duff Books

My wife gave me two books written by Scott Duff. For anyone that is interested in collecting, shooting, rebuilding or history of the M1 they are a must have!!! "The M1 Garand: WWII" and"The M1 Garand: Post WWII". A great read on the total history of the M1 production from start to stop. Good info on Springfield Armory and Winchester is included.

"The Book of the Garand," by Major General Julian S. Hatcher.

Goes in to the history of semi-auto military rifles, the developement of the M1, and also includes the M-14 as the "modified" Garand.

Well worth getting.

My second M1 book--actually, the cleaved second half of what was, in 1996, a single very LARGE book with color innards--is THE CLASSIC M1 GARAND. It's intended to be more practical, and includes the "trigger job" that you almost can't screw up (but I am sure someone has!!),

Thanks from Deacon
