Ohh they are making these now?

Last I looked the mags and bayonets for these are bastardly expensive.

Mags can run from $40 bucks each up.
The mags are NOT rock in, they are straight up like an AR

Bayonets and scabbards can be $120 and upwards.

Slings are fairly cheap though

The tr-compensator up front doubles as a 22MM rifle grenade launcher. Instead of having an M7 series (Garand) or the M76 series (M14) attachment. It's permanently attached on the BM59

I am working on a M1 Garand 7.62N "Tanker" using BM59 parts, Its not going to take mags but will use En-Bloc clips so only 8 rounds for me. I used the muzzle brake that Standard parts sells, it has a drop down grenade launcher gas cylinder so you don't have to put the dog leg bend in the Op Rod, it wearing a "Nutmeg" Laminated stock and I am going to use a UltiMak M12 rear hand guard if I can ever afford one There AD say it wont work with Tanker but sice my Op Rod is straight it should not be a problem, I am going to leave the grenade sight on it because it looks kinda cool!
They have mags and other parts for the BM59.

what does it use for magazines? I suppose the beretta mags. From what I saw at a gun show once, they are quite spendy

I believe they use a spring loaded engraving point for their serial numbers and Jeff's shows signs of a worn tool/tool holder and/or incorrect pressure.

With a spring loaded engraver a 2 1/2 axis machine can engrave a contoured surface instead of using a 3 axis machine which will interpolate X,Y and Z axis.

It's really great when a company like James River makes a retro weapon. Just like the carbines from auto ordnance and inland, the FALs from DSA and Century and the HK 91 rifles from PTR.

It gives shooters an alternative to the endless stream of ARs (Yawn)

Beautiful rifle OP. JRA does great work.

Shuff is a true craftsman. Here's one I just got back from him.

And here is the first one he built for me. Loved it so much, I wanted another.

Thanks from Jeff42899 and Rich D

Man that's a pretty rifle!! I wish my stock had that sweet grain pattern. I am pleased with the JRA BM59 I got from classic too. My serial number is a little cleaner but same style engraving for sure. Don't let it get you too upset she's going to be a great shooter and beautiful to boot.

Handguard clip is in the same location as an M1 Garand. A BM 59 is basically a highly modified M1 Garand.
