Welded Gas Cylinder Question

Found a gas cylinder from a parade rifle that has been welded on the bottom where the gas cylinder lock meets the gas cylinder. Would these be safe to use if the weld was ground off?

Thank you very much in advance for any information.

Yes it would be safe, it may or may not be inspec though. The threads may also need to be chased with a tap
If its free it would be worth taking a chance

Thanks from Tommo and Rich D

Running one on my Garand now. Had to add a half turn on my adjustable gas plug. I don't have gauges, but I suspect it is out of spec or nearly so. No other issues.

Thanks from Tommo
