The M1 Carbine is a fun little shooter.

I'd look at the cost of ammo before deciding.

30 Carbine was getting rather high and at times difficult to find.

Easier to find now a days, but not near as cheap as it was.

Back in the late '70s I picked up two M1 Carbines and 1000 rounds of ammo for $250.00 total.

Now I reload the 30 Carbine.

Go with the Mini 14, They are awesome weapons.

I had an Carbine, didn't much care for it. You could pull the trigger and then lift your head and watch for the bullet to hit.

They are slow not very powerful and ammo can be expensive.

I sure would have hated to have been issued one of them in a forward area!

I would hesitate buying a M1 Carbine at the current prices, although at $600 the one you are looking at is a cheap GI carbine, hopefully with a new administration coming in we can bring the M1 Garand's and M1 carbines home from Korea.

Get a used police Mini 14 GB, I just picked one up that is marked LEO restricted that was made during the AWB

Just build one of these. It is a great conversation piece and fun to shoot. Turns heads and tricks fans of our beloved M14 from time to time.

Just so no reason to buy a .223 Rem firearm that is not an AR15. Ergonomics are vastly superior to a Mini-14. Owned a few Mini-14s, briefly. Love my M1 Carbines, fun, light, historic, collectable, etc.

Every body has an opinion, I have had quite a few M1 carbines, just to me they are not worth what the market has them going for these days. Yes AR's are superior to the Mini 14. I own 4 AR's. Right now my favorite 5.56 rifle is a HK 93 clone. I just like a little variety.

Well this one is no collector for sure. I'm thinking I'll like it more. I'm quite familiar with the M1 and the mini and honestly like the post war updated carbine the most. I appreciate the opinions folks. If the carbine checks out tomorrow I'll get it.

The carbine has an ultimak rail on it which is probably the best Scout rail you can buy. The rest of the gun looks to be in pretty good shape. And you could always get rid of your mini 14 mags and stocks, and get more mags and ammo for your M1! A nice Aimpoint on a low 30 mm ring would be perfect.

Awards Showcase

Don't forget if you like optics, the Mini is the way to go if you ever might want to scope it down the road. They scope very well.
