Marlin Barrels?

I was in a local gun shop the other day and a couple guys were talking about Garands; one mentioned having a couple Marlin barrels. He said one of em is on a 4.2 SA rifle and shoots better than he has ever seen any other Garand. He said he had bought the barrels new from Fulton a couple years ago.

I did not know that Marlin had built barrels for the Garand. Every Marlin rifle I’ve got/had has always shot very well. Are the Marlin Garand barrels something special?

They are special in the fact that it is something else "Garand" to have . I had one and was not impressed . It seems Marling had some quality issues that they had to work through . Apparently they did because some do shoot very well . It may be special if it was put on the rifle originally and I don't know if that was done or not .

Jack has it right. I can't remember where I read it, Scott-Duff I think, but they were replacement barrels. Marlin barrels had quality problems and were not known for their accuracy. And some, maybe all, came with a blued finish instead of parked, so collectors call them "blue Marlins".
I will look it up and give proper reference if possible.
