Ruger's policy on bolts and trigger group parts is that you can buy all parts for the bolt EXCEPT for the bolt body itself...bolt has to be fitted by Ruger at the factory. The same for the trigger and hammer...fitted at factory. Almost forgot; if you want a Ruger barrel, it has to be fitted at the factory as well, of course an aftermarket can be bought/fitted anywhere/anybody. All other parts are available for sale from Ruger and various suppliers.

This is the major reason I wouldn't consider a Mini for a MAIN SHTF rifle as my main requirement is that I be able to repair/replace ALL parts on my rifles, handguns and shotguns.

Okay, my rifle was returned from Ruger with a new bolt. It was confirmed that the bolt was out of spec. Bolt replaced. Had Ruger ship it to accuracy systems for a trigger job, and it is now home.

Off to an Appleseed this weekend to put her through the paces!

I will post results.

100 rounds down range with 0 issues. The tech sights adjustment on this seem to be different than with tech sights on the 10/22, assuming .5 MOA per click was a bit much and caused over correction for the wife a couple times....now where are those Adjustment tools ? We'll get an accuracy report tomorrow, but it's functioning great now and throwing brass into the neighboring county!

Thanks blackarrow, anytime!

500 flawless rounds downrange now! Accuracy on the Mini14 was acceptable, not superb. Much better than the pre 95 models (based on what I've seen). My wife (who has shot rifleman with an iron sighted 10/22 previously) was only able to eek out a 180 this weekend. I think the recoil alone played a factor because her positions weren't as stable as they could be (can get away with it on a .22, but centerfire is a new ball game). I was able to put 5 rounds through it quickly and grouped about 3 moa, just trying to throw lead downrange. It's probably capable of 1.5-2 MOA with me verifying NPOA. I'm happy with it all things considered. But I will say the the trigger from the factory was about 10 lbs...much nicer now thanks to accuracy systems inc.

Agreed, She even took a hat (BLUE) and volunteers as a part of the administration/organization side of things "applecore" (Lord knows I'm no good with that part!).

I see her being very instrumental in ME being effective as a Shoot Boss (I have a tendancy to take tangents, she is good at getting me back on track)!
