The first guys were sent in short handed and poorly equipped, a lot of what they did have was either obsolete or in poor shape. I read one account were GIs were sent to face NK armor with only machine guns and ineffective bazookas. One of the guys said in the rare instance a bazooka round actually worked it wasn't strong enough to actually do any damage to the tanks.
