well years ago some M1s were imported commercialy from Korea, and if I remember right they were pretty well used up. I beleave the Koreans used these weapons pretty hard up through the 70s.. But I would still love to see the rifles come home..

My apologies for this misinformation. I would hope these rifles make it home in the near future.

Yes, I was a FFL01 back then and sold several M1 Garands and M1 Carbines. I still have a QH M1 Carbine. The barrels were all stamped with the importer's name but that didn't affect how most of them shot. A few had been stamped so hard that it deformed the barrel, or I heard. I've never seen one that had a deformed barrel.............

Of all those that I sold none ever came back, but the were well used.

hey guys - news about the importation of these weapons. my most recent issue of century arms international flyer has a write-up in it about pending legislation to allow the importation of South Korean USGI carbines & Garands back into the country. the article refers to the Collectable Firearms Protection Act, S.381 and H.R.615. the bill is being sponsored by Senator Jon Tester & Rep Cynthia Lummis. so it looks like it's time to ring up your congressman / woman & remind them just who they work for. since Century is going to import them it seems reasonable to expect to see them for sale at SOG and not CMP if they are successful. SOG already has Israeli .30 carbines at $695 dealer. good luck everybody!

I hope the legislation will be passed, but not sure if President OneBigA$$MistakeAmerica will veto it.

Orest has said on a number of occasions these won't be going through CMP.

According to this article on StrategyPage, M1 carbines will be banned, but Garands will be permitted back into the US:

Disclaimer: Some take StrategyPage with a grain of salt.
