A close-up picture of the handguard/bayo lug showing the rusting/blueing results would be helpful.
Thanks
Would love to see some pics of your gun.

How is your gun set up for a magazine band? I'd think if you're talking about adding a plug it may be set up with a "normal barrel band." Might do some more research on it to find out if it may have indeed been a "real" Riot Gun" made with a Trench Gun barrel (might be a very rare beast).

I just ordered my Heat Shield from East Taylor. I plan on doing this same exact thing when I get home!

Here are some pictures of my real WWI trenchgun. The pitting is not as bad as the photo shows.

It was a real trench gun built in 1918, I had it re-blued to stop the rusting, and to remove the guys name off of the barrel, on both sides in 1/2 inch letters.
All totaled I have right at $650/$750 or so into it. Finding the original bayonet lug was hard, but not impossible - gunshow find then I bought a new old stock handguard - from RIA in the 1930s from some guy on Ebay. Again the pitting is not as bad as the photo shows.

Sounds like a cool "Riot Gun" type project. Have any pics of it you could post?

Love this thread and have a few ideas for '97 builds in mind, just haven't gotten to any of them yet.
