The gun isn't the problem. Have fun with it.

The ammo isn't even entirely a problem. I shoot Wolf ammo all the time *at the range*.

The problem is using cheap, questionable ammo in a rapid scenario (competition, combat, training, whatever) where you are NOT going to properly check the weapon after a failed round.

Whenever you get a click instead of a bang, for maximum safety you need to eject it and inspect the round. If the projectile isn't in the case, you need to inspect the barrel to make sure it isn't lodged in there.

If you're willing to do that, its all good.

Thanks from 1KPerDay and ecm14

1K, I'm trying to visualise this- at what point on the barrel did the burst occur? Has to be a clue there surely.

Anyway, thanks for posting this. I have to admit I've gotten careless on both the issue of duds and eye protection generally- and that's despite having had my usually reliable Ruger Mk 2 pepper my face with bits of burning powder during a 'dud' incident not too long ago.

Primer & no powder would be an educated guess. You can inspect side by side with a casing that fired off correctly.
The make & model shotgun doesn't matter. With that slug part way down the barrel the barrel was going to blow from the next round.

It wasn't my shotgun so I don't have access to it to look closer.
I snapped some pics if it'll help.

Edit... I see I already posted these in my first post... is there something you're not seeing in those pics that you want to?

That dreaded "pop" is the one thing at any USPSA match that really gets my blood going. Especially when us bystanders are the only one to hear it, and the shooter keeps trying to load another round. On one occasion neither the shooter or the RO heard the pop, and the shooter kept trying to rack in another round but the bullet wasn't lodged in far enough to give the next one clearance. I had to run out there and stop them before he actually got one in.

That and when a new shooter is running across a stage and breaks the 180. Never did like the view of a .45 muzzle.
