| Mossberg 590A1
I went ahead and bought a Mossberg 590A1....found it on Gunbroker from Jennings Guns in Colorado...will be here next week. I'm looking forward to it. Everything I have read about it impresses me....we'll see.

I dig mine.
It definately doesn't sit next to the sporting shotguns in the safe, it has only one use in my house.

You're going to love it. I shot my 590 (not A1) back to back with a Benelli M3 last week... I like my 590 even more now. |

Oh you are so bad!!! Please give us a range report, I was handling one (A1) over the weekend and really have to say I like the weight and feel of that thing. The speed feed stock is great too and with 4 slugs in the stock really balances it out nicely.

I just received my 590A1 today....this looks like one very heavy duty combat arm! I shot 40 rounds of 1 oz Remington slugs through it, at 25 and 50 yards...very accurate, and the slide action is pretty smooth for a brand new shotgun. I like the Ghost Ring Sights mounted on it, very easy to get on target with, and I like the tang mounted safety, which was taking me a little time to get used to, since I have been using 870's all these years. This is one fine shotgun! I'll be shooting it a lot in the months to come.

I bought a non-A1 just after X-Mas from a guy at work who needed $money$ to help pay for legal fees and to add to that the Judge ruled that he could not own any weapons, so anyhow I needed to build up my Anti-Zombie battery. It came with a heat shield, Ghost ring sites, pistol grip stock and a bayonet/scabbard....sweet!!!
The only thing that I changed was the pistol grip stock, I feel that it hampers the use of the safety IMO. So I switched to a regular Speed Feed stock. This shotgun is absolutely deadly out to 50yds with Win. 1oz slugs. It'll definately be accompanying me this fall for deer season. What a great shotgun this is!!

I have been shooting Remington 1oz slugs through mine at 50 yards, and it is indeed deadly. I will try it out to 100 yards from the bench when I have a chance.
I am a dyed in the wool Remington 870 fan, but this Mossberg is really winning me over....it's rugged, I like the sights, the safety is great, and with the 18'' barrel it is really handy to move around with.

I have one 870 Wingmaster with a 20'' barrel, one 870 Police Magnum with an 20'', a Police Magnum with a 18'', and the new Mossberg with an 18''.....I really prefer the 18'' right now....I really just like the looks and balance of it.

I love my 590 (non A1 though) with 18" barrel. Still shoots great after who knows how many rounds? (bought it as a used "police trade-in") Probably my number one pick for up close encounters out of my "zombie" arsenal seen here. |
