Hey guys,

I just ordered my M590A1. The model with the adjustable rear stock and tri-rail forearm. Should be in Friday. Needless to say I am pyched.

Now my first mod! LOL. I would like to remove the rear sight and mount a rail and for now a relatively cheap iron sight. Later some optics as get more quid.

My question is there a specific type of rail I should get? The dealer says he has one for around 8 bucks. Are the mounting screws that come with the rail standard with these rails to fit the tapped holes in the receiver? (8-40 as I understand it) I am no gunsmith and do not want to strip anything right off the bat.

Great minds think alike. I think we have the same 590A1 (SKU# 53693). Anyhow, I just bought a rail kit that you might be interested in (comes with screws in the kit). It was odd reading your post as you were just two weeks behind me ordering up your 590A1 & possible rail kit (funny). Anyhow, I haven't installed the Picatinny yet or even had a chance to shoot this baby yet...but I am excited too. Make sure to report back in once you get a chance to throw some lead...I'll do the same

I've ordered a picatinny rail from the shop that I bought the shotgun from. Has not come in yet. Hopefully this week. I also ordered a cheap 26 dollar rail mount sight from Midway by Leapers. I'm not 100% optimistic it will work perfectly but it should be adequate for buck shot. I plan I purchasing a nice mid priced reflex sight for slugs so the iron sight will not be used for that.

I have not fired my yet. The snow is now over so I hope to hit the range this week when the parts come in.

So far this bad boy looks awesome!! I will reserve final judgement after I shoot some lead of course, but man this thing looks bad a$$! LOL.

Has anyone used steel shot in their 590A1? If so are there any drawbacks. Steel shot ammo is cheaper,but what about the wear factor.
