I know this is an old post. Just taking my rifle out of the safe and getting it ready for some winter small bore shooting. That's the rifle I have and $350 at the time was an enormous deal for them.
I just ordered up some ammo for myself. Just curious about how well they shoot for 50 foot small bore competition against more modern variants.
Just wondering how well they shoot and with what preferences for ammo.
I have ordered some Lapua Center-X and Federal Gold Medal 922a. Hopefully I'll be able to get out and shoot some groups.

Funny you should ask - I shot this set (groups of 5) last week from my front porch. 60 yards, but I was cheating with a scope.

thanks. I am going to try to make time next week and sight my rifle in with irons. I'll post my findings and ammo report.

update:
I'm looking forward to getting my CMP Rem40x rifle out to see what she likes best. I mounted a Leupold 24x Benchrest scope onto my rifle and will take an afternoon this week to see how well she likes the ammo I have on hand.
I pulled a box of each brand/type of rimfire ammo I have and hope for some decent results.
I have a Kimber 82G target rifle on the way and I'll be repeating this test when that rifle arrives as well in a couple of weeks time.

I realize that some are duplicate ammo types like the Eley/Remington brand and some are obsolete. I still have enough to run a match or two with them though and its worth finding out if the rifles like them enough to set them aside or run them through a 10-22 later on.

I'm bringing the Remington Target green box ammo to zero the scope and to foul the barrel a bit before testing.

Once I see what the ammo is capable of, I'll switch back to irons and zero the rifle.
I'll be needing 50 foot and 50 yard zero's with the irons.
Ken
