| Let's see some favorite .22's
I read a thread on another forum about favorite .22's, so thought I'd post a pic of some of mine.
1.) A 60's vintage 10/22 with beavertail walnut stock. 10/22's are not my favorites, but I like this one.
2.) A Thompson Center Arms, TC Classic. Match grade accuracy, graceful lines and an adult sized walnut stock.
3.) My Marlin 39AS rifle from the early 90's. I also have a late 40's vintage 39A Golden Mountie carbine.
4.) Anschutz 54 Sporter. Just a beautiful little rifle with match grade accuracy and high grade finishes.
5.) Lastly, an early 70's vintage Belgian Browning take down. This one has the original browning hard case. |

Very Nice!
How does the Ciener kit on the Hi-Power work? Is reliability high? Does it shoot well?

I have maybe 6,000 rounds through it. It's fed 100%, including the troublesome Winchester XPerts, and ejects everything but the occasional underpowered bulk round. The 14-round mags work perfectly, and accuracy has been consistent 1 3/8" 10-shot groups at 50 feet. Couldn't like it more.

I've also thought about a conversion for a Glock. Maybe someone has one they can post and discuss?

Rock, I forgot to mention that I did have one problem with the Ciener P35 unit.
After maybe 2000 rounds, the very soft rubber recoil buffer that came in the kit had become battered to the point where it expanded and was about to start interfering with the slide action. Instead of trying to deal with the infuriating Ciener customer service dept. for replacements, I just got a piece of rubber or neoprene tubing of the proper size and made my own. The stuff I used is a bit harder than the original (about like the buffers that come in the Ciener 1911 units) and my home-brew buffer works fine and has held up great. If you get one, let me know and I'll send you a hunk of the stuff, as I had to buy several FEET of it to get the little piece I needed (still cheaper, prolly, than dealing with Ciener).
One other word about the Ciener hi-cap mags, both P35 and 1911. Not only do they work flawlessly, but the springs in them are soft and they are VERY easy to load--no loading tool needed, and no sore thumbs. The springs are so soft that you wouldn't think the mags would be reliable, but they are.
In addition to the P35 unit, I now have two Ciener 1911s (Commander length and full-size) and love them all. I've only had the 5" 1911 unit for two years but I've put over 11,000 rounds through it with ZERO malfunctions that weren't the fault of the cheap ammo I like to feed it.

Thanks for the info, and the offer, Snake.
I have a Marvel conversion kit for one of my Commanders. I bought it because it used modified Colt Ace mags, which I have an abundance of. It shoots very high, so I'll probably drop a red dot on it soon.
When I get home later, I'll dig out the .22 handguns and post a pic.

Here are my favorites considering they are the only two I have
First is a Stevens Model 84C that an uncle gave to me a long time ago
and a recently accuired for free as well a Ruger 10/22 that I picked up a new factory stock and barrel. There was a reason it was free. The barrel was a rust bucket and the stock was pretty banged up. I also installed a Bushnell 3x9 rimfire scope. I like these 10/22. By the way those of you who gave me advice on the mags for this, I wnet with 4 factory 10 rounders. I am goign to hold off on the steel lips for now. |
