Tony - great story about teaching your daughter to shoot!
Just don't try teaching her how to drive -
pay someone else to do that! Ask any Dad of a teenage girl and you'll find out why.
My daughter learned how to shoot a rifle at summer camp. She's not too bad at it. These are some "targets" she shot with my buddy's AR-15 at 100 yards. The quarter in the lower left with 3 holes inside the rim was 3 consecutive shots:
BTW she keeps that quarter with the 3 holes on her key chain. I smoothed out the holes so that it wouldn't tear things up...
She hasn't shot a pistol much. On our first outing, I started her on the .22 Walther I originally bought for my wife to learn on. She did OK with that. Then I handed her my S&W 66-4 with some mild .38 Special target loads. "Uh, this is a BIG gun Dad."
"Yeah, but don't worry. The heavier gun means it will recoil less." (expectations are everything ;)
After shooting the first cylinder into a very nice group, she turned to me with a big grin and says "I
really like this gun Dad! Can I have one like it?"
The sad ending to the story is that she's just moved to LA and the PRK isn't exactly "gun friendly". I still want her to have a gun at home, but it's going to be a PITA to get the permit, etc.
