Tony and the rest who enjoy the range time with your kids, I envy y'all.

My kids, though grew up with weapons in the house, were not interested one bit in shooting. I still have hopes in my grandkid. She turns 3 in Aug.

Hey you guys, I've got a factory wood 10/22 stock that I don't use. If any of you guys need one to butcher so it'll be short enough for your kid I'd be more than willing to let it go for cheap.

Get the kids in the picture, they're the future.

Thanks from tonyben

Tony - great story about teaching your daughter to shoot!

Just don't try teaching her how to drive - pay someone else to do that! Ask any Dad of a teenage girl and you'll find out why.

My daughter learned how to shoot a rifle at summer camp. She's not too bad at it. These are some "targets" she shot with my buddy's AR-15 at 100 yards. The quarter in the lower left with 3 holes inside the rim was 3 consecutive shots:

BTW she keeps that quarter with the 3 holes on her key chain. I smoothed out the holes so that it wouldn't tear things up...

She hasn't shot a pistol much. On our first outing, I started her on the .22 Walther I originally bought for my wife to learn on. She did OK with that. Then I handed her my S&W 66-4 with some mild .38 Special target loads. "Uh, this is a BIG gun Dad."

"Yeah, but don't worry. The heavier gun means it will recoil less." (expectations are everything ;)

After shooting the first cylinder into a very nice group, she turned to me with a big grin and says "I really like this gun Dad! Can I have one like it?"

The sad ending to the story is that she's just moved to LA and the PRK isn't exactly "gun friendly". I still want her to have a gun at home, but it's going to be a PITA to get the permit, etc.

Thanks from tonyben

Thumbs up Outstanding!

Nice job in teaching your daughter.

Have you considered another 10/22 equipped with a set of Tech-SIGHTS?

Thank you.

I have a 10/22 but its not pink. It has a scope on it to. We both wear glasses so I don't see that in the cards. The 10/22 was a little long for her but it almost fits her now. My other girl who is 7 years old wants a Red Rider for Christmas. Got to love that. I had to work on her with wanting to shot. Jamie took to it like a duck to water.
