Unhappy Remington Thunderbolt bricks - AmmoSeek & GunBot = 0..forever

I have been monitoring GunBot and AmmoSeek for 22LR bricks. OK, things are stupid right now, but it seems as soon as anything becomes available it DISAPPEARS within 3 seconds of being posted!!!

Do I have to dedicate a 24 hour period to monitoring each site ever 15 minutes to find a few bricks for $20 - $30 ???

Free Market be damned, I am not going to pay $60 to $100 for a brick of 22LR.

Remington Thunderbolts is what I seek, or any other lead bulleted type. Is it time to just stop looking for about a year ???

This is "The Crazy" for sure as another poster said. I never, ever in my life i would see the day when a brick of 22LR was flat out impossible to find.

Thanks from TheShooter

It sure feels like that. I have gotten product alerts 30minutes after they were emailed out only to find the product sold out. I can't monitor my email all day at work and on my days off I have things to do.

I have had some luck calling my local bass pro shop at 9am and then heading up there if they have any product in stock.

It's not "free market" when it's FFL's who are doing the scalping. By law - the consumer must buy ammo retail. FFL's on the other hand can buy it directly from manufacturers as well as large distributors - often at a discount. This gives them access to supply others do not have. This is the equivalent of insider trading IMHO. FFL's who - rather than selling the ammo retail - scalp it on-line instead need to be identified and boycotted. That being said - blame all this hoopla on the "conspiracy idiots" who have polluted the marketplace with their moronic crazed ideas about the government or Mayan prophecies or whatever. They have everyone jacked up with this garbage and this is the result. FACT: - there are only a few makers of .22lr and they are running full bore. There are an estimated 80-100 million gun owners in the US - and they are all jacked up about wanting ammo. The little bit "the government" buys is a drop in the bucket compared to the overall production capacity of the ammo makers each year. One of the rimfire makers is CCI. Say CCI makes 4 million rounds of .22lr per day - that's 8,000 bricks of 500rds. That works out to 2.8 million bricks per year. That's just one manufacturer. Say you have 25 million gun owners like yourself who want a couple bricks of .22lr. Assuming everything stays the same and how much Remington, Winchester, and Federal kick out as well - it could take a year or 2 just to meet that demand. Sorry - those are the hard facts. It's not "the government" or the man on the moon hiding it - it's simply supply & demand. People must calm down and be patient. More important - when you hear the conspiracy idiots spreading their filth - challenge them for facts as they have none. I realize that there are a few congressman who are "investigating" the situation. Keep this in mind - all it takes to have a congressional investigation is to have enough of their constituents to ask them to do so. Every year there are lots of investigations and most come to naught. It is simply the congressmen pandering to their districts - "I heard you and did something about it" - it does not mean that something was actually wrong. DHS has actually been buying around 100 million rounds per year. A few congressmen pushed legislation to stop them from buying if they had "enough" on hand right now. US ammo makers produce billions of rounds each year. A 100 million round government buy is nothing - a few weeks production at most. Remington makes 27 million rounds each day! So forget the bogeyman stuff and don't buy from scalpers. We'll get thru this.

It will come back online shortly. Look at .223, you couldn't find any for weeks unless it was $1+ a round. Now it seems everyone and their mother has it in stock at those prices. Give it a couple weeks of not having stock move, and prices will come down. We've already seen it in some places.

I blame the .22 demand on the AR guys. I know a LOT of people who switched their bolts out and use .22lr for plinking now because at $.80+ per round .223 is to damn expensive.

My suggestion, make friends with someone who works night shift at walmart. I had my cousin pick me up a box. Took 2 months but only cost $17. The night supervisor was buying all the main calibers (.308,.223,.22,.45,9mm) the moment they put it on the shelf and selling on gunbroker and ARFcom at ridiculous prices.

It's what happens, people profiteer whenever they can.

Here's your Thunderbolts:

http://dansammo.us/remington-thunder...2lr-40gr-TB22A

For the record, I bought a case of those (5000rds) about 3 years ago for less than what two of those 500 round brick is listed for.

Cold day in hell before I pay $90 for 500rnds of .22lr.

Most I ever paid was $50 and that was so my wife could do Appleseed with me.

Everybody knows this stuff is out there, but most is going where you stated. The only places not charging oturageous prices are the local LGS/GS/and WW. Visit these guys/make friends/buy a few accessories, etc. Find out when shipments come in and possibly hold you a box or two. Most of these guys have a limit anyway. dozier

I went by the local Sportsman's Warehouse this morning... wednesdays at 9 a.m. they open the doors and there's a line around the block waiting to buy their ration of .22. I spoke to a guy in line and he said it would be at least an hour.

I said... I have a job. Guess I don't get any .22. and walked away.

Just bought 2 bulk packs of Remington yellow bullet (525 rounds) 22lr at Cabalas in Louisville today 23.99 a box and they had 2 full shelves of them. They had more ammo than I seen in stores in 6 months. PMC 223 55 grn FMJBT for 10 a box of 20 right now .50 a round isn't to bad.
