So today I got a Remington 511 from my grandfather, it was the gun My father learned to shoot on, It was last shot be my father about 40 years ago. What do I need to do before I shoot it. I know it needs a good cleaning but anything special?
How are these anyhow?
Pictures coming soon.
They are nice rifles. Clean the barrel and the bolt assembly...reassemble and enjoy. I have two that my son and I shoot regularly. Properly cared for they will last forever. Most are very very accurate.
I polished the bolt. What do ya think? So I learned this gun was made in 1947. It's cool to have such a nice gun with a long family history. My great grandpa bought 3 of these for my father and his brothers and they left them with my grandpa when they went of to collage. now I have one of them! It has no real historic value so I am going to restore it to keep in the family longer.
My friend has one, and it is very accurate (and fun to shoot), in my opinion. I would love to get one.
