My New wz78 Wifama Trainer

After reading several posts on this forum as well as a rimfire forum: I decided I wanted to own a Wifama wz78 .22 rifle. Last month Widener's Reloading got in a shipment of them and since I have always had excellent dealings with these folks I decided to order one, based on their description as their being in like-new condition.
The rifle I received was absolutely new. The serial numbers of the receiver, bolt, stock, barrel, front and rear sights and the magazine all match. There are a few small pressure marks in the stock and the stock finish could have been applied a little better but all the metal parts show outstanding workmanship and finish.
I used the AK-47 sights that it came with for a few days but ended up mounting an inexpensive scope ( Intensity Optics 3.8-12X-44mm/AO) in BKL mounts. I haven't had a decent day weather-wise for shooting in a while but I did manage to shoot it at 50 yards with some Federal Classic ammo. I know that this rifle will do much better with other ammo and under better conditons.
If you are looking for a .22 built like they were 75 years ago out of milled steel with an excellent trigger- I recommend getting one of these rifles.

Thanks from LemmyCaution

That looks very nice. I would not pass one up if the price was right.

Wifama Price

Here's the link to Widener's site:

I think that they are a steal at the price ( $239.00). They also list spare magazines to purchasers of these rifles and I would certainly order a couple of spares since they are very rare:

Questions-

Does the dovetail on the barrel for the rear sight match the dovetail on the receiver?

Is it possible to move the rear sight to the receiver?

Or, would it be possible to mount a reflex sight at the current rear sight location?

'Cause that would be kind of cool.

I'd be all over this deal if I didn't already have a CZ-452 SE. I emailed a link to this thread and the Widiner's page to my brother-in-law, who loves my CZ.

Re: Wifama Questions

LemmyCaution: Both the receiver and barrel-mounted rear sight block have European standard 11mm dovetails. The rear sight has a a bolt through it that fits in a relief cut in the rear sight base so the receiver would have to be modified to mount the rear sight on the receiver dovetails. Also: the rear sight block is flat and rear sight would have to modifed to fit the round profile of the receiver.
I doubt that moving the rear sight would improve things much, but it would be interesting to mount a rear aperture ("peep") on the receiver. Any rings that fit 11mm dovetails would work on the rear sight base and there are "11 mm to Weaver" adapters available so any sight with Weaver style mounts would work.
I also own a CZ 452 ( Lux) which is svelte by comparison and is extremely accurate, but at half the price the Wifama is a bargain and has many outstanding features including an excellent trigger that is adjustable several ways.
