Finally Built My Ultimate .22 Rifle

So I've long since wanted a really nice .22 rifle. Slowly but surely I gathered the parts and built this setup:

- Tactical Solutions OD Green X-Ring Receiver
- Tactial Solutions OD Green Threaded/Fluted Barrel
- Yukon Extreme .920 RH Woodland Camo Stock
- KIDD two-stage trigger group
- Weaver 6-screw tactical rings
- Leupold 4-12x40 scope

And of course... a photo...

So the big question was: How was it going to shoot?

I must have done something right in building this rifle. See the pics below.

*Note* All shots at 50 yards:

First shots started in the upper right and I slowly adjusted the scope and came down to center. Ended up shooting out the big hole you see. Made one more small adjustment and the last two shots were the two side-by-side at the very top of the bullseye:

Once I got that set in... this was my best group of the day. 3 shots in the same hole!

And I know a lot of folks are picky about ammo. I was using CCI standard velocity 1070fps 40 grain target ammo.

All in all I'm very excited and happy this project turned out this well. This rifle shoots like a dream. Can't wait to get back out and shoot again.

Thanks from philip26p

One thing about it, you will get great practice at your shooting skills without breaking the bank on ammo. Sweet gun!

Yes on Texindian's quote above. I frequently bring my 10-22 on my range trips, and after shooting my "Big Bores" finish up the day with it. You can't beat the price of ammo, and it will put small game on the table. dozier

Very nice. I have built up a couple using volquartzen receivers and barrels. Nice to put a can on a threaded barrel and blast away.

Nice 10/22. Here's one I put together a few years back with Volquartzen parts and a Leupold 6-18 VXII. Built my father and nephew one's just like it.

Mine's right at 2.5lbs. No recoil at all either.

It's a two stage, and each stage is set at 1.25 lbs, so 2.5 total. Perfect for field use. If it was a bench only gun I would have gone a little lighter.

The slightly heavier pull forces me to maintain better mechanics, so I count that aa good thing. YMMV.
