Rugers new SR22

It looks like a winner from the get-go!

Here's a full review...
http://lead-slinger.com/ruger-sr22-pistol

It's got a nice solid barrel versus the stupid pencil barrel of the Walther and Sig Mosquito. It appears to be over-engineered like the rest of Ruger's .22 pistols, which is fine by me.

Tony.

Very nice. Any idea on MSRP, or will we have to wait for SHOT?

GunJoker has them on sale with a Buy Now price of $300. Description says MSRP is $400. I can't wait for the threaded barrel version.

Looks like a great alternative to the Walther P22. I like the way those shoot, but after witnessing the slide on one of those break in two and hit a friend in the bridge of the nose, I won't touch them.

$300 ain't bad, either. I'd like to see them at $250.

Agreed. Although, I see it now with Walther being the pathetic alternative to Ruger. I had the slide on my Walther break too and won't ever touch them again. Friends don't let friends buy or own a Walther P22. The Ruger is already a higher quality piece at a competative price. Once the threaded barrels are available, it's all over.

Once the recalls are over with, then I might consider one. But I'm in no hurry since I have a Walther P22 to fill that slot in my battery. I'm in no hurry, so time is on my side that Ruger will have time to debug them.

7th

I'm waiting for a real world review of one of these new Ruger's. Seen one at the local "fun shop" and the owner swears its a winner but said he's only shot a hand full of rounds through it. I'm always leery about reviews from all the gun rags and hope someone posts soon how their pistol shot.

I will have one sometime this year once the threaded barrel version comes out.

They look good. The safety setup is STUPID, though. Up to fire? Gah!

thanks for posting this. i am a p22 owner and have always loved the ergonomics of it. it was a jammo-matic though......sure CCI runs good, but i want something that can run bulk .22. looks like this gun might be the answer. it looks a little bigger too. one of my favorite things about the p22 is the mag release. the mag release on the ruger is two buttons on both sides. that worries me a bit.

Thanks from tonyben

Saw them at the gunshow last weekend. Most dealers seem to have them. Low to mid 300's on price. It is a small pistol, very similar in size to the Walther. I looked at one, seemed to be a nice enough piece, tho its hard to tell without shooting it. It's really too small for my interests, but hopefully Ruger has a winner with this one.

I used to have a P-22 but sold it as I already had a bunch of .22's and didn't shoot it much anyways. Mine functioned fine with Federal bulk pack. It states clearly in the manual that it must be used with - high velocity - ammo. Standard velocity ammo doesn't cycle properly. If you want reliability - spend a little more. I also have a Browning Buckmark Bullseye which will digest anything I put thru it but it costs more than the P-22.
