Good decision with the bolt gun, granted the 22 wmr has a better kick to it but how much kick do you want in a 22, its not your m1a you know... besides a gun that will take three different rounds is pretty handy once in a while
:)

cant wait for the range reports

I love the "stock" 10/22.

I've had it since I was 7 years old and all I can recommend is three things.

Extended mag release. The stock one is a pain in the @$$.

Auto bolt release. Makes life a hell of a lot easier.

And a tri-mag coupler.. tripler? Combines three stock 10rd magazines into one drum looking contraption. Love it. The tri-mag combined with the extended magazine release makes reloading a breeze.

It's been helping me win Rimfire Challenge matches for a some time now.

If you're looking for something for plinking I'd go with the .22LR. If you want accuracy/varmint I'd go with the mag or a .17hmr.

I had $1200 in a 10/22 once. After all the mods and tweaks, I found that I didn't really enjoy shooting it all that much. I enjoy my "blaster" (ie: almost bone-stock) 10/22 a LOT more.

Shooter7. My opinion. The most versitile arrangement is the LTR or Liberty Training Rifle in the Ruger 10/22 Sporter. Tech Sights, sling and swivels is the cost of ruger + $80. It replicates the functionality of your M1A with irons, sling, mags, release, bolt action etc. I have my Rifleman weight suspension carrying system snack pouches set up take an insert holding the extra 10/22 mags. When me and peeps get together for some team instruction I use the LTR for a fraction of the cost yet get the same muscle memory workout that I would using the M1A. Mag changes, sights, rifle action, all essentially the same. Then only difference is the weight and recoil which is easily managed with proper application of Steady Hold Factors and 6 steps to Firing the Shot.

Buy both the LTR and the Marlin. The more guns in the hands of Forum members the better I say.

Just bought a 1000 rounds of 22lr for $28. Wow, I can barely get a box of 20 7.62 fr that! This is gonna be fun, and I can see other 22s in my future. I'm in trouble now.
