Anyone here try the Timney trigger module for the Ruger 10/22?

In the process of putting together a 10/22 just for fun. Picked up a "donor" gun cheap, dropped it in an OD green Hogue overmolded stock, got a fluted/threaded Tactical Solutions barrel, EGW lightweight picatinny rail and a couple of other doodads. Gonna top it with a Burris FastFire II. My goal is to have a super lightweight plinker and play gun, ain't plannin' on competing with it or anything. Eventually, it will be a suppressor host.

Last thing I got do is something with the 6.5lb trigger. Was gonna buy a kit and tune it up myself, didn't wanna pay over $200 for the Volquartsen or Power Custom trigger groups, when I came across the Timney. They have a good rep and I've used 'em before in other systems (Rem700, Rem870, Rem788, etc). I can get one for about $140, and that's about the top end of what I'm willing to pay for a trigger for my plinker.

Wanted to see if anyone here has any experience with them.

cmshoot, unfortunately the Timney trigger module for the 10-22 hasn't been out all that long. Doubt if you will get a lot of responses here. There is a forum on the web that is geared to .22 cal RF rifles that will definetly get you some answers. The name escapes me, but google it and you will get some answers. dozier

A friend of mine HAD one on each of his 10/22s for Rimfire Challenge matches. Sure, they're light and crisp, but they are notorious for doubling. If it gets dirty in the least, you can expect it do double with almost every pull of the trigger.

He ended up taking the stock Ruger parts to my smith and he got the trigger down to about 2lbs and it breaks like glass. I view it as better than the Timney by far.

I had a Power Custom trigger kit in a 10/22 a few years ago (sold the gun, like a dumbass). The kit came with a sear adjustable for take-up, the trigger was adjustable for overtravel, it included everything needed to have one hell of a nice trigger, and it costs less than $100. I got it from http://www.hawktecharms.com/ruger/10-22.htm. Scroll down and look for the product description "PC 10/22 Adjustable Hammer/Sear Pack with Target Trigger!" The kit is easy to install and adjust to your liking.

I also had a Smith tune my Ruger trigger down to 2.5ibs. $60 trigger job and has been perfect for about 10 yrs now. Best option in my book. Good luck!
