The only downside of the rifle is that that polymer picatinny rail doesn't seem hold the zero very well, at least for me, when putting optics on and off. Well, I didn't invest into too expensive optics either since this is just for fun, plinking and trigger practice. (Maybe I get a trigger job some day, the trigger is so so). But so far, I have very few failures. I am sure the failures I do have are primer related, not rifle related. I do think my mags are wearing out though. The M&P 15-22 needs an inserted mag to hold the chamber open and that starts to fail more and more. The mags are polymer too and might just wear out faster than steel mags. Not too much of a problem considering that 44mag.com sells them for $16 a piece. Overall this thing is super fun to shoot and digests cheap Federal ammo. Accuracy is ok out to 100 yards. Haven't tried it out any further. I don't know the MOA, but I shot a match with just the magpul backup sights, no sling! and I could hold my ground ok against bolt action rimfire rifles at 25 yards! At 100 yards standing i can hit the black of the SR-100 target with cheap Federal bulk ammo almost every time. The Ruger 10-22 seems to do much better in terms of accuracy, but if accuracy is not super critical, the M&P 15-22 is the way to go! Much fewer failures than the Ruger 10-22! At least that is my experience thus far. I have maybe 3,000 rounds through it. Love it!
