Have shot at your club some years ago and it is a very fine range and found those attending to be friendly and many fine shooters as well. Have fond memories of the experience.

All are Welcome

Come on out and try a match. I have set this match up to be easy to shoot for people who don't have a lot of experience. I try to place new shooters with someone who has shot High Power at matches RBGC before.

It's a fun match, and you get to shoot a great rifle that probably only gets out of the safe once in a while.

JLynn........I hope to see you there

Rifle sling,shooting mat,shooting glove,shooting jacket,spotting scope ,small clipboard/pen,notebook or rifle data logbook,.

Be able to hump all the above gear together from point A to B, etc.

Thanks Bickle, seems I have a long way to go. Maybe next year, all I have is a rifle, ammo, mags, optics for rifle should I go that route. I have a cotton usgi sling but I guess that's not what would be needed for this type of shooting. I don't have a shooting coat or glove, I do have pen and paper. I wasn't aware this was a move and shoot match.

Thanks for answering my question.

Don't let the lack of a few of the items mentioned keep you from showing up and trying your luck. Bring your rifle, sling, ammo and some sort of optic so that you can keep score when you're not shooting. All that other stuff like a shooting mat, glove, etc. are nice to have but no absolutely required. Chances are, someone would loan you some of the stuff you are missing. Yes, if you are going to get serious about competitive shooting, then that stuff will make your life easier and your scores will probably improve some too, but they aren't an absolute necessity.

Treat the match as a learning experience and you will enjoy yourself and perhaps make a few new friends in the process.

If this Match is any sights then you can use the rifle scope. A GI web sling or leather sling will work.

Hey for now use what you have, wear a heavy sweatshirt , a leather work glove, a padded moving blanket ,etc.

Go anyway just to get your feet wet. You have to start sometime.

I'm a civilian and not familiar with the proper positions. I'm really just an ole broke up carpenter, that likes to shoot. I have made a it possible to shoot my rifle or rifles off my front porch. I would enjoy the company of other like minded people. Maybe I will just come and watch the first time. If there was a front porch stage I would challenge anyone. Lol

My first match was 4 years ago and since then, the bug has bitten me hard. I love it.

Contact the match director ahead of time and he might be able to pair you up with someone who can show you the ropes. Before my first time, I attended and appleseed which was helpful in getting the positions down along with how to use a sling properly.... but you might not have time to do that before this upcoming match so a quick email to the match director (Tim Nobel) letting him know that you are an interested newbie might get you squared away.

If you are going to make the drive, then you should participate. Everyone starts somewhere.... and an M1A match is a great place to do that.

Thanks from Wasted ammo
