After the election, it's clear that we have a polarized country, but is there really some reason the NRA and CMP can't just get along?

If they wanted to do something this drastic, why not go full bore and move the matches to the NRA showcase range, Whittington Center in New Mexico? At least that would not be such a long drive for us westerners.

OMG. What is going on with this country. If we can not play well together how can we stand up against the Hillary's and Bloomberg's of this country that want to take away our rights. I will continue to go to Perry even if the NRA won't

Have no doubt that the range in Indiana will be suitable and good to go but was some talk about moving the matches to New Mexico which would have cancelled out a lot of East Coast shooters, including me. Only thing constant is change and nothing is forever.

Very few details as to why this move is being made to Indiana. Camp Perry is an experience all by itself, with Commercial Row, etc. I think the NRA really needs to do some reconsideration in this move.

As for the link above on the Whittington Center, as big as our country is, perhaps multiple sites should be considered to hold these shooting events. Our Western shooters have a very long drive to Camp Perry, and I'm sure a lot more shooters would participate if they didn't have to drive over 2K miles one way to get to Camp Perry.

The one thing that gets the NRA's attention like every business is MONEY.
I will write and tell them that do not expect my membership renewal if Camp Perry is forsaken. It will take a LOT of members though doing that to make a ripple.

Maybe I'm blind, but I didn't see their reasons.

Correct, the dedicated 300 yard match would move. Of course, the M14 is still an approved service rifle for all service rifle matches.

Very poor communication from the NRA on the change of locations and dates the matches will be held in 2017. I would assume that many shooters have planned vacations and other family obligations based on historic match schedules.

Just thinking of other major sporting events, the Masters is scheduled every year at Augusta during the first full week of April. The Kentucky Derby is scheduled the first Saturday of May and the Indy 500 runs on Memorial Day Weekend to name a few events. If the NRA wants the National Matches to be the "World Series of Shooting" maybe they should treat the matches with the same dignity, tradition and consistency as other major events.

This change in schedule between the NRA and CMP will be known as the Great Shooting Schism of 2016 - even worse than the Twix schism pitting left and right Twix against each other.

What's WRONG with moving to Indiana? Camp Atterbury is much easier to get to than Camp Perry...
