I'll shoot with you anytime. You had a good match but bullet trace didn't correlate with target placement!

Thanks from Patchhound

I talked to a fisherman while I was there who said he was out in a boat and there were big bullet impacts 20 yards from him in the water, he said they used to shoot "big guns"

That is Gunny Boyd, retired USMC. She is a Master class shooter, having competed (successfully) in 1000 yd matches. At the USMC, she both coached and gave wind calls. Gunny Boyd takes the right hand swing shooter position in the NTIT, which means she has to hit two targets in rapid fire while four of us concentrate on doing our best rapid fire shooting on a single target. She gives us the wind call; one year, because of her call, we hit the Echo target at 600 yds where some military teams missed.

The day before, she coached the NTT team and gave wind calls. One shooter did his best 600 yd shooting so far because of her. In the aggregate, the team did well. She deserves alot of credit.

NTIT Captain

ShootingSight's our NTIT Team Captain on the range. Art has functioned in this role for 5 years. As such, he oversees the shooters, bringing them to the line and marching in formation downrange between stages, tracing rounds downrange and course correcting shooters "on the fly", redistributing ammo (in the event of rifle malfunction or for squaring the targets at a stage), getting and recording scores, and giving shooters feedback on their battle zeros. Art does this willingly and very well. He's also fixed my Rattle Battle rifle after it went down.

Edit: Eagle1 is the designated team captain this year, having herded the shooters together, assigned postions, and coordinated this event with afternoon shooting. He has ShootingSight run the team during the event.

Thanks from Eagle 1, siefly, TRW1964 and 2 others

Looks like the schedule for 2017 has already been finalized. I'll be making two trips down as the M1A match is on 7/10 and the CMP Begins on 7/14 thru 7/25. Hopefully I can figure out something better for lodging next year (and maybe I'll be done complaining about this years hotel by next year also.).

Thumbs up

Man all of the pictures are great!! Thanks for posting all of the pictures. Missed Perry this year, we were all set to go and my son got sick and we had to stay home. I was really looking to shoot with him at the Garand and M1A match. Like the Chicago CUBS always say "there is always next year"
