The rulebooks are always clear as mud, year after year.
I think you misunderstood what I was saying. They obviously ban EBR with the "standard issue" clause what I was saying is they have very specific guidelines on the width of those "standard issue" stocks.

They removed the drawing with the M14 stock dimensions. They did not include anything telling us what the issued dimensions are. I don't know about the M14 but the U.S. Cal30 M1 came with a buttload of varying size stocks depending on the manufacturer and even when in the cycle it was built. Poorly worded and unenforceable.
I'm not worried about it one whit.
Besides, unless you are eagle eyed, absolutely recoil insensitive and burn up two barrels per year practicing you won't be in the money shooting the dinosaurs anyway. This just made a huge step change in the competitiveness of the Wood gun against the AR.
Probably next year, if we scream loud enough, they may institute a separate badge for the wood gun in EIC. Or they may drop them altogether.
I'll go on record right now as saying the average cutoff score in a 50 shot EIC is going to go up at least 6 points and possibly 10.
Before the new rules were even mentioned I had sent off an HRA Garand to be rebarreled with a HVY Krieger in 308 and fully bedded. Got it back right before christmas and it shoots incredibly well. As well as any NM AR that I own. My intention was to pick up my remaining leg points with it and have the M1A as a back-up to it. So yes I'm disappointed.

They already have a special M1A only match. M1As are not very popular on the line unless you are an old geezer like me.

That is an NRA match. Not CMP and not an EIC match.

That side match is sponsored by Springfield Armory, Inc. You can't even use another brand of commercial M14.

I thought you could use another brand m14? I know it says "M1A" in the rules but I thought they let any m14 rifle in that qualifies as "service rifle"

Maybe they will let you shoot? I don't know. But it does say: "To be eligible for awards, you must shoot the match with a Springfield M1A only."

http://www.competitions.nra.org/nra-...match-faq.aspx

That might be the disclaimer in case they didn't notice your rifle's brand until later and had already let you shoot.

I've heard that they don't enforce the SAI requirement for awards. Don't know that to be true as I shoot an SAI.
There is place on the scorecard where you are asked your rifle's serial number. Pretty sure they can tell from the serial number whether it is one of theirs.

M1A with 4.5x scope for CMP matches

Bottom line, you can scope an M1A (4.5x) & use in matches if the whole combo weighs less than 10 lbs. This rule effectively eliminates heavy barrels, as the weight limit will be exceeded. There are, for sure, 5 matches per year that you can use this combo in. See below.

THE FOLLOWING IS AN ANSWER TO A REQUEST TO CMP:
We do have Modern Military Rifle Competitions. They are held during our Eastern CMP Games, Western CMP Games, CMP Games Oklahoma and the New England Games. You can find information on these events here: http://thecmp.org/competitions/cmp-travel-games/. Also CMP affiliated clubs hold Modern Military rifle matches. You can find a listing of upcoming competitions here: https://ct.thecmp.org/app/v1/index.p...r_value=GARAND.

For rules on Modern Military Rifles please see the current edition of the CMP Games Rulebook: http://thecmp.org/wp-content/uploads/CMPGamesRules.pdf, rule 5.2.2 pages 37-39.

Not for "service rifle".

Awards Showcase

4 March scopes arrived in TX, these are the purpose built ones intended for the AR service rifle. Stay tuned for the field reports in the weeks ahead.

Mods, if this is against ROE, please delete link. Here is the first writeup, post # 863.

Looks like that link requires a login as a member of the site. Is it something that can be shared another way?

I did find this article on a search: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/...ss-from-march/

MSRP $2750

Maybe they need to finish paying off the CMP directors for this special rule change...
