Monard HP+ shooting coat

I am buying my first real NRA heavy shooting coat and ordered one for my wife to give me for Christmas, well I tried it on and it doesn't fit too well. I am a big guy at well over six feet and 275 pounds. It looks like the only way I'm really going to get into a coat is to have a custom one made and Monard seems to be the only manufacturer that does a custom coat now. Does anyone have a Monard coat and can talk about it or are there any other custom coat manufacturers out there? I need about a size 48 extra long, and I don't see any of the manufacturers out there with something like that.

Thanks,
John

I do not own one, I would have after looking at them at Perry had not for the 700 price tag. They are indeed made well and custom tailored. McKenna was showing me all the features and measurements were taken at around 20 different places.

Thanks, the HP+ starts at $440 and looks to be pretty complete at that price. You can add options, and of course increase the price. The have another model that is more money. Nez, did you get the follower pictures that I sent you?

John,

Sorry did not get your pics. Please re-send them to nez.rongero@gmail.com.

Thanks.

The good thing about the Monard you don't get the padding where not needed, ample where you do, and the double stiffened back is stiffer than any jacket I've owned and tried. They ate lighter for the stiffness you get.

The Monard coats I was asking about are true custom coats for those that just don't fit a standard size or want a better fitting coat. Creedmore only sells stock sizes I believe. You need to send a very complete set of measurements to Monard's distributor and they have the coat to fit YOU. BTW, I have not interest in the company, just want to see if anybody has any opinion before spending close to $500. Zediker likes the coat in his book Slings & Things but is very carefull about giving endorsements of one mfg. over another.

Update on my post- I had originally ordered a coat from Champion Shooters Supply, and when it came it didn't fit right. Well, I called them and spoke with Sandy, she is one of the owners. After a long discussion of my measurements and then calling back with more information I was told to return the coat I had received and another would be sent out. I got the coat on Friday, and it fits great. Too bad we got 8" of snow on Saturday, or I would have a range report. Bottom line, nice people that went the extra mile to satisfy a customer. Recomended by me.
