Talking MY First I.D.P.A. match - I did awesome!

Just wanted to share my excitement with my M14 Forum family. I shot in my first I.D.P.A. match on Sunday and did really well. I got 1st place in the SSP "Unclassified Division" and 6th placed overall, including against "classified" shooters!!!

It was not my first move and shoot match, but it was my first "official" I.D.P.A. match. I plan to get classified sometime this year. I posted a link below to the actual scores from the entire match. I did better in some stages than others, but definately kept up with the best shooters. Now that I understand the scoring and times, I will be a force to be reckoned with next match. Look out Mr. 1st place, cause I'm coming after you!

For those wondering, I shot my issued Glock Model 22C with Streamlight TLR-1 through the entire match. It was a blast and it was really fun. I can't wait for my next match!

http://flaglergunclubidpa.com/scores - Click on the "scores" link and then on the "October 30th 2011, IDPA match" link to see the overall scores.

Congratulations, very well done sir. How about getting somebody to take pics during the next match while you are shooting. You know the rule.

I did get pics, but I have been so busy with my Blog that I have had a chance to upload any of them. Maybe tonight!

Cool, congrats! I stopped shooting in IDPA matches because it seems that many of the SOs only got into the game to be anal-retentive jerks and boss people around. Sooooo many ruuuuuules.... :D

I've seen videos of other clubs matches and it seems like people are having fun, though. Maybe the "don't question me, I'm the boss" people are just concentrated in my locality.

If you liked the IDPA, you'll LOVE the USPSA shoots. (no fishing vest required).

There's still a lot of rules, but far less strict and anal as the ones in IDPA. None of the reloading/shooting from cover, you can drop loaded magazines, shoot just about any target you want, whenever you want, its basically all the fun stuff that IDPA didn't want in their game.

Sure, it's not 'tactical', but it's fun. Plain and simple. You think they'd let you shoot a purdy gun like this in I.D.P.A.?

I've got hat cam videos and pictures on my clubs FB page.

I took some gun cam video as well....I will try and post some stuff up tonight. Nice pistol....maybe it was just a cover, but all the SO's were really helpful and cool. I did get dinked a few times, but nothing major and no FTNs....

That's cool. I wager the vast majority are like that.

There are a few cops that shoot with us in the USPSA type matches or 3-gun... full duty rig, etc. Good practice.

One highway patrolman put us all to shame with his pump shotgun... he really knew how to run that thing.
