How many RWVA Riflemen here?

How many have attended an Appleseed Project (RWVA) event? How many Riflemen? How many have never heard of the Revolutionary War Veterans Association? Comments on Appleseed?

Just now saw this post and thought my answer (to the other post) didn't show up. Former State Coordinator for Okla, been 'rifleman' for several years. Oklahoma has a very hard time supporting any shooting activity. Don't know why. Appleseed is tuition cheap, sometimes even free! And if you want to learn about the Revolutionary War (the British called it 'the Civil War') and Marksmanship, give us a try, please. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks from triggernick

Can NOT wait to get back and earn my Rifleman patch (1st time Go...maybe). Despite feeling like I know a good deal about marksmanship, I'm extremely pumped for it. I wish Appleseed ran my state ARNG PMI and ranges.

I would like to, but the last couple times I checked there weren't any Appleseed shoots in my neck of the woods. I'll have to check again...

I've been dying to go to one. Right now I wish they would swing by the eastern part of my state. One of these days though when I get the time I'm going to where it all started.

Steve, there was one in Blackfoot ID May 21-22 2011. Don't know if that is your neck of the woods. We need to get Appleseed started in you neck of the woods as soon as possible. Appleseed Project is fantastic. Get Fred's Guide from http://www.fredsm14stocks.com/. Study it, buy copies for all your friends and assicates. Shoot, team-up/teach, and get involved. It is our heritage and duty as American Riflemen.

Thanks from SGV

Got mine in Sacramento Jan 09.
After many more Appleseeds finally took an orange hat in April 2010.

Teaching is just as much fun as shooting.

Some of the finest people I've met, I met at an Appleseed.

I recommend it to everyone I can, top quality marksmanship instruction and a reminder of where we come from, sacrifices made by others for us, and our responsibilities as American citizens.

They just started hosting them at our range. They hosted them at another range in our area until the greedy bastards ran them off. They made all the shooters buy a full year's membership just to show up for the one shoot. Our range doesn't charge them anything, and we're a lot nicer too.

Thinking about signing up for the next one instead of just helping out...

Newly Minted Rifleman, Farr West UT May 2011. Shot .22 Liberty Training Rifle. Bought M1A immediately and I am training to shoot "Rifleman" with a real man's rifle Oct 2011.

I got hooked into Appleseed Project after a late night on the internet looking for opportunities to engage. Never expected to run accross a one stop shop for the "sheep dog" in my blood. Every society has sheep dogs, sheep, and wolves. April 19, 1775 the sheep dogs stood firm against the wolves or kingmen who wanted to rule, tax, oppress, and confiscate arms from Americans. For those who may not know, Appleseed Project does three very important things 1. You will learn how to shoot the Rifleman Standard: rack grade rifle, surplus ammo, consitent hits on man sized targets at 500 yards. 2. You will team with other riflemen for maximum effect and teach anyone who will listen. 3. You will learn that even though we single handedly cannont stop tryanny, we can and are duty bound to do something. Just do something. When the call comes again to "Turn Out!", will I be there? Will I be alone or standing shoulder to shoulder with other American Rifleman advancing accross our own "North Bridge" speaking the only language that tyrants and kingmen know? If I am alone, so be it I'll die like a man should. However, I have a greater hope and vision. If we lose the "soft crisis" and things get hard, I know that the fire of liberty is burning in the hearts men and women in our great country today. Those are the people you will meet at Appleseed Project shooting events. RVWA and Appleseed is for people who are true sheepdogs.

Thanks from davecampperry and cachunk

Have done a total of eight Appleseed, got my Rifleman patch at my second one.

Currently hold the Appleseed iron sight high score at two different ranges, one in NY and the other in NH. All with my Ruger 10-22 Liberty Training Rifle. A used, stock, off the shelf 10-22 carbine with Tech Sights, extended mag release, and modified bolt release.

Glad to see we've got some Rifleman, and ladies out there. Like others, I was a bit indifferent, hated history in school and considered myself to be a pretty decent shot. But to humor my wife, 2 days of shooting (400+ rounds) is never a bad thing. Within the first hour I said WOW! These guys are good and damn I wished I'd learned that when I was 10 instead of 50!

Found out I wasn't as good a shot as I thought I was, practiced what they taught me and got my patch at my second Seed and was offered the Orange hat. I'm now a full Red Hat/Shoot Boss, my wife is a Red hat as well.

I've had a bunch of LE and active/ex military on the line and everyone of them walks away a better shot than they were with very positve comments on the program. I've had the honor of spending 5 days with 50 active duty Sappers working them up back to 500 meters with their M4's just prior to their deployment. We've got instructors who are active duty running Appleseeds in country as we speak.

Like many, my wife and I were wondering around lost..Knowing our country was going to hell and was looking for a way that might help turn it around. Appleseed was it for us.

The fellow hoping to get his patch first time out, it can be done but it's rare. I could put $100 bill out there everytime I've heard that and win 19 out of every 20! :) My hats off to you if you do and you are the kind we invite to be instructors! :) All instructors are volenteers but you have to be invited, first prerequsite...To be able to shoot our expert score repetedly. After that it'll take 5 or 6 more Seeds to teach you how to teach marksmanship and the history before wearing the Red Hat.

Those that don't have seeds close by, those are areas we need to grow instructors. We will send instructors from around the country if need be. We just had our first in AK last week, got one in Hi soon, that'll be all 50......O.L.

I've been to a 3 day practical rifle course at Frontsight, it was good, I learned a few practical things. I was however, blown away by the quality of instruction at RWVA. The best part is it's practically free. It took me 3 1/2 visits to finally get my Rifleman patch(216). Used my Socom 16 for the first 2 then my "loaded" M1A. I hand out RWVA brochures at my range. It is discouraging to see 30 guys all shooting off of sandbags. Hope to see more people using their rifle as it should be used; standing, kneeling/sitting, and prone.

DaveCP, isn't that funny, states were guns are more part of the culture it's difficult to get folks off the couch to participate. State like Ca, MA, IL...Great turnouts. They had their first "Subwayseed" in Brooklyn a couple weeks ago and have another scheduled. Don't think that isn't chapping some anti butts! :)

Besides being challenging for those with experience, it's very kid and lady friendly and we do "adaptive" for those with physical limitations. One of our instructors, a lady, only has one leg. She'll kick 99% of the men's butt from the standing position! The kids, we'd rather they be mature enough we don't have to hover over them but we've got ways of dealing with muzzle sweepers if need be. It's not a competition against others, only with yourself to improve. Of course you get 2 people together they are going to start comparing scores.

Washington, yep, our first one we shot our AR's, for the cost of ammo, even reloading, we could have bought 2 brand new 10-22's which is what we did for the next one. An MOA is an MOA, trigger squeeze is trigger squeeze, what you do to throw off a shot with a .22 will do so with a .300mag, the only difference being is the recoil and $2 a shot! You can get away with poorer positions with the lighter recoiling guns, but you'll know how to fix it and adapt. Many use their .22's the day then use their bigger guns the second to keep ammo costs down..O.L.

Just looked up some events in my area. 70 bucks plus a range fee. Also add the price of roughly 500 7.62 rounds???? and possibly a night spent in a hotel/campground, food, gas. Sounds expensive.
