Great postings by GCBurner, stoky, ppcshooter1, RandyB45., BRAVO ZULU!!!
Yes Appleseed events will again start to sprout in our area as winter fades into spring. Appleseed is a wonderful thing I think…. Citizens helping citizens and members of our military to shoot better, plus get non-PC history lessons as to how Great Colonial Americans did what they had to do. Something not covered hardly at all in our public school systems of today!! SHAMEFUL!!!!
I hope to lend a hand where possible this year and will probably only be a career level I instructor. That's where I feel I can be of the most help. If anyone has a desire to get into highpower service rifle shooting, A-Seed offers the best form of learning the basics before attending a regular NRA highpower match, IMHO….
PS, And one other thing.. One thing I love about A-seed events is the eclectic variety of people that show up to become better Americans, know what I mean??? |

I attended my first appleseed shoot October of 2011. Scored rifleman on the first day with a 213. Looking forward to the June and July events here in Kaysville. I am planning on shooting the one in June with my Supermatch M1A instead of my AR. I am also looking foward to wearing an Orange hat.

Really late to this thread. Apologies!
Shot rifleman at my 3rd appleseed 215, on a liberty training rifle with irons. Simply because I'm a cheap, stubborn SOB.
Since I did it on my last one of the weekend, didn't get a chance to prove if it was luck or not? Am looking forward to doing it again.
As many have stated here, the quality of instruction was excellent.
They took this lifelong city boy with no experience in distance shooting, and taught me to hit 400 yard simulated targets..which are awfully small .
Can't heap enough praise. Was asked to be an orange hat, and am leaning towards taking it. I don't take commitments of that sort lightly..perhaps if I am able to repeat the rifleman score..and of course, do it again with my M1A! I will feel qualified enough to help.

I'll be going back for Appleseed #3 in June, I think. My high score on Appleseed #1 was 140, my high score on Appleseed #2 was 197. I hope #3 is the charm. Still using my bolt-action Mossberg, but I added 1 1/4" sling swivels and a USGI sling. I got the Rifleman Opportunity Card at the first Appleseed, so I can keep coming back at no additional charge for one year, or until I shoot a Rifleman score, which is not a bad deal.

Depending on my work schedule I'm hoping to go to the one in Vienna OH at the end of April or Slippery Rock PA beginning of May.

Earned my Rifleman patch at my third AS in early December of 11 and my Winterseed Rifleman in mid February of 12. I really would like to earn the desert tan patch with my M1A, but I might go back to the 22lr to get my scores up (214 is my best so far) and save the M1A for a Known Distance event patch or for the Rifleman Boot Camp in February of next year at Ramsuer NC.
