A NEW GUY with a DUMB QUESTION

Hello to all, this is my first post ,so please be gentle.I bought a canvas sling from Springfield Armory and tried to put it on my rifle yesterday. It seems that the brass tab on the fore arm end of the sling is on the wrong side. The tab refuses to go through the clamp, and it appears that the dimple hump stops it from slipping through the clamp. If you twist the sling and put the raised dimple on the bottom, it goes right on under the clamp.Am I gonna have to return this to S.A.,or am I just missing something? Thanks.

Push the material through so you can squeeze the flapping tab through the clamp. You may have to put some muscle behind it but it should work. I just had to get a new one and it was pretty tight.

Pull tab on the bottom, solid piece facing outward.

Clip and tab on top

tab though the sling loop should be from outside to inside.

Give the clip some room, at least an inch.

Push that clip through, it may be very hard.

Tighten clip.

You should be able to get a good elbow wrap from the base of the sling.

I cannot answer your question, but want to welcome you to the forum. Do not be afraid to ask questions, a very wise man told me many years ago the only dumb question is the one you do not ask. Someone with more sling savy will have to help you.

You will find that the slings tend to stretch with use and it will be easier to fit it down the road. For now you have to work it and if possible angle the tab to fit it through. They do go. Hang in the and welcome to the forum.
