A fine rifle you have there, and it was made around the late 1980's would be my guess. A super match would have a heavy contour barrel almost to the gas cylinder and have a fiberglass bedding to the stock and action/receiver.
Hi, Fgriffon
the seller of this rifle says, that it was importet to germany 1979 by a very well known gun smith from germany. The paste you can see on top of the handguard and barrel would keep the heat and reflexion out. Also a matchbarrel and trigger, and a bedding system. And a oversize match stock.
Looks fine, in my eyes.

Looks like a powder coat Finish to me.. Get some more pictures of the stock and heel of it and you can look up the SN if it is a Springfield Armory receiver.. B2B
Powder coating is removable, but not sure how hard it is to remove as I've never done it but, I'd say it could be bead blasted off with a garnet or Alm ox.. or a chemical strip bath.. B2B
The front and rear sights should be marked NM (front 0.062" and a hooded rear half MOA adjustments)
Stock glass bedded
The newer ones have rear lugged receivers but I don't know about yours
Gas cylinder should be unitized
Flash suppressor should be a NM version which means that the hole on the end should be larger than the standard
There are five things I see that I'm not comfortable with because they are not standard items but people more knowledgeable than me will have to post their opinions.
The original stripper clip guide has been replaced with "something".
A rail has been installed for the hand grip.
There is a gas deflector installed under the forward port hole.
That coating is not standard
The front sight looks to be an after market assembly rather than an original Springfield assembly.
The Front sight is A Smith ent I believe and the break is also... The rear clip looks to be a scope mount attachment point... The stock looks beefy enough to be a Super match to me.. take lots of pics when you get it.. B2B
cool rifle. hope it shoots well for you
pardon my ignorance, how burdensome is legal firearms ownerhsip in France? bunch of permits required? longguns easier than handguns ? just go to your local shop and buy or wait for officeial permission for weeks? just curious Thanks in advance
how burdensome is legal firearms ownerhsip in France?
In France, automatic are unlegal, you need a licence for some longguns calibers (308, 223) and for all the handguns. But the licences are not so difficult to have, if your clean ! When I have the licence, I can go to my local gunsmith or also sell on the net and receive the rifle with postal service. (For exemple, I buy this M1A to a german shooter, and it takes only 3 weeks to have the licence, and the importation clearence due to european community).
I can have my rifles at home and go to the range when I want.
This is the rifle, I clean all the black paste. I think that the barrel is a Douglas heavy, but I don't see any marks !
The stock is oversized. TRW bolt. I will change the flash hider to an original one.
That's a nice rifle. It looks like a Barnett heavy match barrel to me. If so, it should be very accurate. Bedding jobs are seldom pretty. Please give us a range report with targets when you shoot your rifle.
If the barrel has been coated, this may cover up any stamped barrel lettering. Look very carefully at the underside of the barrel between the front sight and the gas system, and also in the heavy contour part of the barrel that is normally covered by the stock and handguard.
The visibility of lettering may improve by changing the angle of the lighting. Sidelighting often works best.
On a Barnett barrel, there should be a date that can be seen under where the op rod would be if action were closed. Right side of barrel slightly below center.
Thank`s for the invitation. But i think i will take my spare time on the range (smile). BTW you can althoug buy parts at egun, so it can be interessting for you, to get some stuff.
great looking stick but i have to say idk what people see in the vertical fore grips i find them very uncomfortable and ackward i do however like the magpul AFG...hows that ting shoot? we need a range report
