Hi Different:
The one I'm looking at buying is an IDE S/N 129xx
3 3 25 44 7

This is a very nice Poly and my friend is asking $600. From what I can tell I should jump on it and just resell if I don't like it. Will post pics on a different thread. Just trying to wade through all of the crazy discussion about these rifles to figure out if there are known dates that they were produced with 'soft' bolts or if its just willy nilly. I intend to shoot it out of the box if the headspace is reasonable for reloads.

The receiver in question was manufactured in March 1993. With the likely exception of the stock, the other parts were manufactured in the early 1960s. The receiver serial number is not an indicator of the hardness, or lack thereof, of Chinese M14 parts. Send me an e-mail for a complimentary copy of my report on Chinese M14 bolts. It's worth your time. I may even throw in the metallurgy lab report on the Chinese M14 barrel. leeace99@hotmail.com

Just call me stupid! I have two at the moment.

3 4 10 1 7 S/N 14559

4 21 7 4 S/N 10066

Both stamped on the side of the receiver "IDE USA SFLD MICH."

Serial Number 14559 was manufactured in April 1993. On the other one, is the first LOTTO number actually "1" instead of "4"? If it is a "1", it was made in February 1991. It may be a European style "1."

Thanks from usmc69

The first number could be a 1 instead of a 4. There is a hole drilled thru it. Probably is a 1.

Thanks,
AJ
