Though I didn't mention it in the report, it performed flawlessly, even with my handloads, which were hollow points and loaded to 2.810 OAL.
I paid $1589 for mine and it came with a new 3rd Gen. scope mount. That's probably a pretty good price, especially for a shop. However, I've been keeping an eye on them on trader boards and on Gunbroker. From what I've seen, you could probably snag one in that ballpark, if you're patient.
I bought my 1st SAI Loaded in November of last year. Bought it off gunbroker for $1400 + shipping and the 3% credit card charge. Altogether it was right at $1500 total.
I ordered one last week (MA9226, Loaded synthetic CM barrel) for $1550 shipped (incl. a 3% CC fee). I pick it up tomorrow.
I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. GI6
I recently purchased a Loaded for $1200 + shipping from Gunbroker. It was a Cali legal model in Florida. The muzzle brake didn't bother me, since it was going to get a Vortex anyway. Though the current SAI synthetic stocks, don't feel near as rigid around the front swivel as a USGI Fiberglass.
I've had my Loaded about two years now. I had the gas system unitized by Bruce Dow (thanks, Bruce - you're usual great work) and added a Sadlak NM spring guide. It has performed flawlessly with everything I have fed it from crap surplus to my handloads. No problems at all with probably 1,500 rounds through it. I broke it in VERY slowly and with my 10X Super Sniper scope and my 168 SMK's it will consistently shoot 5/8" at 100 yards from a rest and 3/4" to 7/8" with my aged eyes prone with sling....the rifle, not my eyes!
I've had mine for almost 2 years now, . . . bought just after the '08 election. Figured I may never get another chance. The shop had my loaded and a NM, . . . and no others.
Mine is a non stainless in walnut, . . . never a hiccup so far.
I love my SAI Loaded model, and with the $1,000 I saved over buying an LRB I bought 825 rounds of ammo, 15 magazines, and all the tools required to maintain it.
Is it equal in quality to an LRB, probably not, will it outlast me, and out shoot my capabilities, definitely.
I have had mine for 8 mos or so. When I took it out of the box to the range it had several failures to extract during the 40 or so rounds that I fired that day. NoExpert happened to be there with us and was kind enough to replace my bolt guts with USGI stuff. It was an low cost and easy fix and now 900 rounds later it still performs flawlessly with 3-5 inch groups using iron sights.
SAI Loaded, picked mine up a little while back. No issues with her. No FTE or anything of the sort- she functions flawlessly. Only had one failier to lock into battery that was due to an oversized round- MY FAULT.
She averaged about 2.5 MOA when i first bought her. Some tubbs ammo and now she averages about 1.5 MOA with handloads.
Shot her out to 700 M and she performed very well, consecutive hits over and over and over again on 10x20 larue target.
picked mine up about a year ago.got it thru gun broker for 1500 out the door, guy had a Cali legal rifle in Texas of all places.it's a shooter, round count about 700+no problems so far.i like it,it's my second SAI rifle and no complaints.GI2
Hi Folks. The Std Loaded is great, but I finally found an ammo that she doesn't like. Both I, and a friend, have found that American Tactical 150gr FMJ (made in Turkey...go figger) fails to cycle the action about every third bang. It was a real problem at a recent Appleseed Shoot. I ended up shooting the AQT bolt-action style (no small feat for a leftie!)
I'm not sayin' Am Tact is bad - it groups almost as good as match stuff in my bolt gun at around $0.60/rnd with good boxer-primed brass - but it just won't work in my M1A. YMMV
Best to all
P.S. Check out Appleseed!! You won't be sorry!
