Armscorp of America made about twenty semi-automatic only M14 receivers from stainless steel circa 1987 - 1988.

Armscorp M14NM

Purchased S/N A006661 (Baltimore, MD) from a LGS as a complete rifle. No back history on it, however it has a TRW Barrel (TE @ 3+), Op-Rod, and Bolt, an H&R Trigger and Hammer, the rest is all GI. Sights are NM Hooded rear, and a .062 front. Gas system was unitized and shimmed, and the front of the GI fiberglass stock was "skim-bedded" and opened up at the stock ferrule. Handguard was also relieved on the edges to clear the stock and bedded at the fron and rear. Also, the recoil spring guide was an old style "welded-up" style.....

Would this work have been done at the factory or by a gunsmith? When was the receiver manufactured

The receiver was likely manufactured in 1991. The build sounds like a gunsmith project and period appropriate with the exception of skim bedding a USGI fiberglass stock. AFAIK, Armscorp used bedded wood stocks in their match grade builds. HTH

Lee, I've been away from the forum far too long, I hope this finds you well. Mine is A003091, I got it through an FFL as a receiver in 1987, still looking for the receipt. It was a long wait as I recall. Would this be billet machined or cast? How does one tell?

It should be a cast receiver. A billet machined receiver has ninety degree corners at the heel whereas cast receiver heel corners are rounded. If you could find the receipt for the receiver, that should provide the month in 1987 you received it. I like to get the month and year for the serial number data base entries. Thanks for the input.

Another one.

ARMSCORP Serial # 007429 - according to the original paperwork (Transfer dealer paperwork) that came with the gun. 10/18/91 purchase from ad in Shotgun news. Sold as a receiver. According to the owner - Assembled by Roland Beaver - no paperwork to back that up. Not sure of when.

This brings me up to thirty M14 type rifles.

Thanks from Different

Lee, sorry it took so long to dig up the paperwork. I hope you can update the list next week when you get the envelope. Happy New Year a little early.

Thanks from Different
