Howdy,
Has anyone used Warbirds custom guns in Texas? I'm looking for a M14 gunsmith around Lake Charles, LA/Beaumont,Tx area. Give or take a 150 miles. My goal is to get my barrel put on a receiver and headspace my bolt and hopefully watch the process, learn a little bit.
Thanks for any information,
Parashooter

Why is RA Parts not on the list - Claude did my trigger and reparked a few parts, everything came out nice.

I have re-barrelled, re-indexed, set op rod guides and gas assemblies to NM specs, checked headspace and honed bolt assemblies for minor headspace adjustment, and tuned trigger groups, as well as installed various accessories. I do not charge anything and would work on your rifle with you present and helping so that you can learn more about how it works and how to do all this stuff that can seem so mysterious. I have a lot of the right tools and am open to buying more as I need them.
If you are in my area (Whatcom County) send me a PM and we can set up a meet to do your work.
I am also thinking about starting a semi-regular group get together where everyone could bring their rifles and we could have a barbecue and talk about how to do the work. Let me know if you'd be interested and I'll put your name on the list for a direct contact. My experience in Canada has been that it is great to get a bunch of guys together to socialize, learn something, and have fun doing it. | Hi,
I live down in Seattle and saw your post. I'm currently acquiring parts for a couple m1a builds a sage ebr build on a smith receiver and a vltor stock build on a cast springfield receiver both with 18.5 barrels from krieger. I haven't received all the parts yet but I would like to learn about headspacing and setting up the rifles for maximum accuracy. Are you still looking to teach m14 gunsmithing?
thanks,
Erik

Jim's used other people in the shop for years. Does lovely 1911 work (except his triggers). I've never known Jim to work on a 14 type unless he's changed since I haven't talked to him in a lot of years.
There is no finer .45 then a Hoag Mastergrade. I keep trying to talk a friend out of his. I missed mine by 2 points in 1981. Damn fine pistols. I'd have Steve Blankenbiller do the trigger since Chuck Ries retired and later passed away. Chuck did all my 2lb 1911 triggers and the 1lb trigger on my Blackhawk (my cowboy match gun).
