Used S A

Am I to assume that my SA 0724XX was made in May of 93?

I purchased a used M1A today (serial # 1678##) and I was wondering how do I know if it part's rifle or the real deal? Based on the list I would guess it was manufactured 10/04.

Loaded?

SA SN 189219
Born on 7-11-06
HS 1.631
Black stk
Tech E B

Barrel has NM .308 (top between gas cylinder and FS) find no other markings. Got the odd Flash Suppressor too.
Trigger Grp has 7267030-HR-N stamped
Rear Sight Elevation knob has an "M"
Op Rod Spring Guide is slotted with the KMT symbol
I also got a 20 rnd mag thatís marked with a W (Winchester)

It arrived in a Black composite stock which appears much different (no metal) than my 09 Green Standard, although I promptly switched it over to my Big Red Birch.

My rifle also has the exact same flash suprressor on it. That is the first thing that I noticed and made me begin to question the authenticity of rilfe. I will have to look for other markings like you mentioned.

BTW M4FNG in the picture of your sight, what is that with the letter A marked on it? I don't believe my rifle has anything like that on it.

ksapp82, I just got a PM back from Different, said that this is likely a Loaded model, the Front Sight is marked NM and the suppressor is a CA legal style (no bayonet lug)
Im now about 99% that it's a Loaded model, so it appears I got a really good deal on it

Taking it to the range today, will report back.

I took a look at my rifle today and it has NM on the end of the barrel like yours and has SA on the sight.

What is a loaded model? Based on my information and yours I would guess it is a loade model also. I paid $1K for mine. I hope that it is a good deal for what I got.

damn good deal!

thats a damn good deal! here is how SA defines the rifles:
Standard

Loaded

National Match

My 06 was advertised as a Standard however has all the Loaded stuff plus a KMT Op rod spring guide. Not sure if the flash suppressor being CA style is NM tho.

Standard or Match

04/22/98
Shipping tag: 091312
Serial# 110889
Head Spaced: 1.632

Thanks for all the research/work.

I sent Patti at SA a email inquiring about whether this rifle is plain standard or has any Match parts. The barrel is not stamped NM. I always thought it was just standard, but it came with the "Loaded" coupon/package, when purchased.

EDIT: Here is the info from the reply I received from SA
M1A rifle serial number 110889 was manufactured as model number MA9202 in April of 1998.

This model would have come equipped with a new walnut stock, National Match tuned trigger assembly, National Match medium weight barrel, and a National Match flash suppressor.

I am so glad I found this board.
Bert

Thanks for the information...She was very helpful and quick to respond.

My rifle 1678## is the loaded package with a black stock and carbon barrel. It would have come equipped with a NM medium weight barrel, NM tuned trigger assembly, and NM non-hooded sights. It would also have come with a muzzle break stabilizer instead of a flash suppressor to make it California legal. Manufactured October 2004.
