Let's have a list of recommended M14 magazine suppliers. This way everyone will know who is "safe" to buy magazines from. What is "safe?" "Safe" means the supplier sells M14 magazines that function properly. IOW, USGI level quality. If you use a M14 magazine from one of these suppliers it will work in your M14 type riflle assuming there are no "issues" with the rifle or the ammunition. We can add or subtract from this list as needed. If a particular supplier is not listed, ask why or why not if you don't know. Let's keep this positive. The goal is to keep you, the M14 fan, from wasting time and funds. Note that the prices do vary substantially among the Recommended Suppliers so be sure to comparision shop among them.

CMI and Orig USGI Mags

I have in the past, purchased Orig USGI Mags from Armalite. Bought 4 mags from them on two different occasions. The last time was perhaps 4 months ago. Having thouroughly checked them out as per Differents' criteria, they are original USGI mags. Armalite still lists both CMI for $25, or the Original USGI mags for $30. Just checked thier website and both still available. Myself, I prefer the older mags, as they seem to be more robust, and of better quality. Had one CMI mag in the past that had a little gap along the long side spot welded portion of the mag. Works okay, but you wonder where the quality went. I think the older mags used a little thicker sheet metal also. I'll spend the extra $5 to get what I want. Just my $0.02 worth. dozier

I, too, am sold on the CMI mags from 44mag.com.

Here's my experience with the recent crop of Korean-made magazines, though. I purchased one from Dillon to test and my stepdad gave me the half-dozen he bought from somewhere else (even cheaper).

They feed very reliably. But the last live round is ejected along with the fired case from the chamber. It happened too fast for me to see what caused it. It's weird, but happens almost every time.

If you must have cheaper magazines, the Koreans WORK. Just be prepared to lose your last round. They did the same thing out of my stepdad's NM M1A and my SOCOM 16, so I can't believe it was the rifle's doing.
