Let's have a list of recommended M14 magazine suppliers. This way everyone will know who is "safe" to buy magazines from. What is "safe?" "Safe" means the supplier sells M14 magazines that function properly. IOW, USGI level quality. If you use a M14 magazine from one of these suppliers it will work in your M14 type riflle assuming there are no "issues" with the rifle or the ammunition. We can add or subtract from this list as needed. If a particular supplier is not listed, ask why or why not if you don't know. Let's keep this positive. The goal is to keep you, the M14 fan, from wasting time and funds. Note that the prices do vary substantially among the Recommended Suppliers so be sure to comparision shop among them.

Recommended Suppliers

1) 44Mag Distributing www.44mag.com (current CMI production)

2) Springfield Armory, Inc. www.springfield-armory.com (current CMI production)

3) Check-Mate Industries www.checkmateindustries.com (minimum order quantity of twenty-five)

4) Palmetto State Armory http://palmettostatearmory.com/ (current CMI production)

5) Desert Warrior Products http://www.desertwarriorproducts.com/M1A-M14-Magazine.html (current CMI production)

6) M1A Mags (Wrenco Arms) www.m1amags.com (current CMI production)

If you don't see a source as a Recommended Supplier, ask why if you don't know. TIA

As some of you may know NY still has a ban on high capacity mags. Anything over 10 rounds is taboo...you can carry a hundred 10 round magazines but not a single 20 rounder. Bah.

Anyway, Fulton Armory sells used USGI pre-ban 20 round mags for about $30 and they're legal in NY. Don't know what the difference is and don't particularly care.

This is the 2nd post I've made plugging FA products. I apologize if I come across as a salesman (which I am not) but I'm just excited that I can get the equipment I'd like to use.

Roger that. Thanks, grndpndr. I love the three mainland Chinese magazines I have. They get the most use as range magazines.

DocturKnowles, thanks for the reminder on the State of New York. Same post-'94 ban restriction applies in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I've added Fulton Armory to the list of recommended magazine suppliers.

A slight mod was made to both the mainland chinese and CMIs before thed function correctly, the sharp edge on the rear of the follower was rounded just slightly with a dremel.
If you have problems with weapon not feeding as I did take a look at the follower. The polys and CMIS were unreliable(in my particular weapon) prior to a very small amt of metal removal now there 100%,your mileage may vary of course.

Can anybody comment about the 10-round magazines that Fulton Armory sells? I'm in Ca and am limited to 5 or 10 round magazines. My local gunshop has offered to sell me 10-round mags for $45 each, and I have no idea who makes them. The FA ones are $30 each, but there's absolutely no information or even a picture of them online.

Thanks,

AFAIK, there's only one manufacturer of ten round M14 magazines in the United States, Check-Mate Industries. CMI ten round magazines are good to go.

The Australian International Arms bolt action M10 rifle imported into Canada by Marstar from 2005 onward uses a ten round M14 magazine with a smaller latch plate. This prevents a M14 magazine from being used in the M10 in order to comply with Canadian law. Only a handful of these rifles were imported into the United States before the BATFE put the kabosh on them. Fulton Armory is NOT selling magazines for the AIA M10.

New member and new to M1A. I just purchased a Springfield Loaded and am curious about the mags that are sold at CDNN. They are in a blue plastic wrapper and the wrapper is tagged as follows:

CHE7790183
M14 308 20RD GI, BLUE BAG
CMI MKD NEW MAG
MAGOH M1

The mags are marked CMI on the back. Any problems with these. I noticed that CDNN was not listed as a recommended supplier. Thanks for the help.

Group Buy for CMI Mags

Good Evening,
I wrote to CMI about the 20 rd mags and this was their reply. I will be ordering next week and if anybody wants to join in we could probably do well with a large group buy for prices.

Group Buy for CMI Mags

Good Morning,
I will try to call CMI this morning about group buys and minimum orders. (First try..CMI Rep was on another line)
The amount of mags wanted per person right now might be at minimum or over the number required for ordering. That being said it would be better if an individual ordered their own instead of a group order since the mags would be shipped to one person and not have to be reshipped to others causing extra shipping costs.

I have been in contact with Checkmate and will be handling the group buy if you guys decide to move forward. The pricing will be the 50+ price that Joe listed earlier.

Keep in mind there will need to be a group buy leader who will collect all of the funds and then receive the bulk shipment of magazines and disperse them to the buyers.

Can you please direct us on how you want us to place an order under this group buy as not to confuse with your retail operation. Thank you.

Ground Rules?

Whoever does the group buyer, I believe, should have certain ground rules.
A) Payment by USPS money order made out to 44 Mag (Is this acceptable, Mark?) for your purchase plus shipping to the group buyer. Mag cost =(cost of mags+shipping)/number of mags
B) Shipping payment (USPS money order) sent to the group buyer for shipment to individuals. Priority Mail? First Class? Parcel Post? What ever it is should be the same for everyone. (Priority Mail might be best since shipping boxes and labels are free).
C) Limited time only…Offer good only for a week? 10 days?

Just my opinion…PLEASE make suggestions.http://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/123.htm#wp1071591

If no one wants to take on the fairly large task of being group leader I can take orders directly and ship directly to each buyer but this would add a few dollars per magazine in cost. One advantage of this option is buyers could use credit cards instead of having to get a money order.
