Early Manual question

This one is dated Dec 1959. with 2 change addendums marked C1 and C2
Are there any earlier dated TMs or FMs for the M14?

I asked about M1 manuals over on JDs site but have not gotten any answers. Anyone know what the earliest TM or FM for the M1 Garand is dated?? I found I have a 1940 one and just don't ever remember seeing any earlier.
TIA

TM9-1005-223-12 is dated October 1959.

There is also the Fort Benning publication that is earlier and is Dated Dec 1958. It is not listed an TM nor a FM, but it is referred to as "Special Text 7-179" "U.S. Rifles 7.62-MM, M14 and M15". It has a light blue cover page.

I have 5 or 6 of the FM23-8, two of the October 1959 TM's, and four of the Fort Benning "Special Text" manuals, so I don't think they are that rare. Would I sell one - No.

I am pretty sure that I have all of the variations of the TMs and FM's for the M14 rifle.

I collected these manuals over a two or three year period, along with all of the Springfield Armory Inc. catalogs and Price Lists. I know I spent 1000s of hours looking for "the paper trail" for the M14/M1a rifles.

The 1959 FM was the first FM published on the M14.

You are fortunate to have the Changes as they are the most difficult pieces to find for a collection. The 1959 FM had only two changes so you have all that were published.

Thanks GV.
Would you by chance also know what the earliest M1 Garand manual would be dated?

Sorry, can't answer that question for the M1. I would assume the late 1930's.

Thanks from m1sniper
