Winchester (Olin Mathieson) Parts

A lot of people have requested that I document these Winchester parts for future study, preservation, history, etc. Well, here they are! I know we have some historians and collectors alike here, so whatever detail you need I'll provide it if possible. All of these parts are being used to build a Winchester M14 in honor of SFC Shughart.

The last 6th months have been costly, but the hard search has paid off.

Thanks for sharing these. I know it took you a while to find all of these. Would you mind showing any other markings or features on the parts that differentiate them from the other manufacturers (for example, the elusive and expensive flash suppressor)?

I can try, but the only problem will be that I don't have any other manufacturer to compare them to

Interesting to note the subcontractors that supplied Olin Mathieson with parts.

Just take detailed pictures of the parts, that will be enough to help with identification. Clearly several photos are not yours, could you please post up pictures of the gas plugs?

Thanks!

Only two photos are not mine. M14Brian supplied me with a connector lock and gas plug from the packs pictured. The gas cylinder tube background is from before I moved to a new base.

Anything specific to look for on the gas plug? To my inexperienced eyes, it looks like any other plug, with the exception of the preservative on it

Thanks from XM25Ren

One thing I found odd about the gas plugs was the preservative used. Granted, I've never handled any new from wrapper plugs before these, but instead of the sticky white powder preservative this one had a powdery charcoal like preservative.

Thanks from tnw50cal and m14brian

I need to get all my gas plugs and take a close look!

Those are good pictures which show a lot of detail, I wish everyone could take those kinds of pictures.
