Identify these hammers

I came across three Harrington and Richards hammers each with different markings on them. I’d like to know more about their history; can anyone shed any light on what production run they were made for, timeframe they were made, or subcontractor, etc? One I know is for a M1 Garand as it came out of a CMP mostly correct HRA. Another one came off SAI rifle that had a considerable about of USGI parts on it, the trigger group was a mix of manufactures, and the last one I found in my parts bin. Thanks in advance.

Reaper6,

I could be wrong, but I think they are all M14 hammers, I believe a Garand hammer number, at least early on, would be something like this; C46008-7, but don't quote me.

MAN do Garand collectors argue about this. Grin.

I am NOT an expert on Post War Garand parts. Having said that, GENERALLY speaking if it is marked "HRA" - it is a Garand part and if it only has "HR" (with NO "A" on the end) then it is an M14 part.

There is at least one exception to this I know of and that's the "HRA-W" marked windage knobs. They came out so late for HRA Garands, they were also used in HRA M14's.

Noticed on your Avatar where you are stationed at Schofield Barracks. My Uncle was stationed there when the Japs attacked. I was TAD to Hawaii twice with the Marine Corps Division Matches held at Eva Beach. I made point to cme see the barracks in honor of my Uncle. Did they ever get all the bullet holes and bomb damage repaired, or did they leave some as historic reference? There was still some bullet holes when I saw the place in 1975.

C5546008 is early to mid 1950's Garand HRA. The other two are M14.

Harrington & Richardson, Inc. M14 operating rods are marked HRA.
