Norinco M14 Serial Number Database - North America
Norinco M14 type rifles have been exported to the United States and Canada. I'm trying to build a list of serial numbers to see what serial number ranges were imported by various companies. Norinco M14 type rifles exported to Canada and the United States have the model designations "M14", "M-14" and "M14 Sporter." If there are any other model designations please let me know.
If you don't mind please post Norinco M14 serial numbers and the imoprter here or PM me. You can change the last digit or two to "X" for privacy. See separate thread for Poly Technologies M14 rifles.
TIA,

Norinco CJA SPFLD. Mich
000128 I bought it off of an internet auction and sent it off to Fulton for the Chinese Upgrade. Love the rifle....it is a sweet shooter....real sweet.
Different,
it's marked Norinco.
Is it one of the lowest #'s or what?? Got it off of gunbroker in 2000 sent it to Fulton in Nov. of 2000 and got it back in May of 2001.
I was told mine is a Norinco, although it is not stamped Norinco anywhere on it. I purchased it in August of 2005 in a private sale. The rifle came with a USGI flash hider with a bayonet lug on it, although I would imagine it did not originally come in this confiugration.
Left side of receiver is stamped "1851xx" very lightly. Reparkerizing might actually wipe out the serial number it is so light.
Right side of barrel is stamped "CAI. ST ALB VT" followed by a 1.25" space or so and then "M14 S/A SPORTER 308 CHINA"
in much lighter stamping.
There are electro pencil serial numbers on the tirgger guard, op rod, and a few other pieces, but most of them do not match each other, and none match the serial number.
The rear sight has "WC|E" stamped on the elevation wheel.

Dawg180, just want to confirm that the receiver serial number is six digits long. That is correct? Also, are there any numbers on the left side of the receiver under the stock line (hidden by the stock)?

I don't have the rifle handy at the moment so I cannot pull the receiver to be 100% sure, but I do not remeber seeing any stampings below the stock line on the left side of the receiver. In fact, I cannot find any marking that reads "Norinco" or "Polytech" anywhere on the rifle.
Yes, the serial number is six digits long. Yes, after looking at the database of other people's numbers I am perplexed by this too. On top of that, the serial number barely looks like a stamping at all- it almost looks like a surface etching through the parkerizing to show bare metal.
I will try and get some pictures of it in the next few days since it obviously is a bit different from the other Norincos and Polytechs that have been seen in the past. I might have to borrow a digital camera as mine does not have the resolution to show some of the markings very well.
Dawg, thanks for the reply. You are confirming what I found out from other sources. Unmarked Norinco receivers are not unusal. They are not common but they do surface in discussions from time to time on the gun boards. As your barrel indicates, the unmarked receivers were Norinco models imported by Century Arms International between 1990 and 1994.
But importation between 1990 and 1994 would have been in violation of the 1989 import ban, would it not?
Not at all. The 1989 import ban was a ban on importing rifles with evil features. Once the evil features were removed, the rifles were allowed to enter the country. If your rifle has evil features now they were installed either before 09/13/94 or after 09/12/04.
