The rifle is in excellent condition. I'm the second owner and the rifle doesn't appear to have been fired much by the original owner. I haven't fired the rifle since I have owned it. I purchased the rifle to rebarrel as a 7.62mm, but since there are so few M1As originally chambered as 7mm-08s, I just can't bring myself to change it. I'd rather sell it to someone who will enjoy it as a 7mm-08 and build another one in 7.62mm.
This rifle is a mid 90's era Springfield Armory Super Match rifle that was custom ordered in 7mm-08. It came from SAI in this configuration, and isn't a 7.62mm that was rechambered. I've been told it has a Hart barrel, but there are no markings on it to identify it as such, at least that can be seen without removing it from the bedding.
The rifle is serial # 0886XX. It's an M1A Super Match, meaning it has the bedded, rear lugged receiver, heavy chrome moly match barrel, match tuned trigger, unitized gas system, and match sights. I had to have the original lugless, match reamed, flash hider removed to bring the rifle into CA, but it is included in the sale. The rifle is bedded into a Boyds Type II heavy match walnut stock.
The rifle has the following U.S.G.I. parts:
Trigger Group: TRW trigger housing Winchester "OM" marked hammer "MXR" marked safety
Bolt: Harrington & Richardson "HRT" marked
Op Rod: Unknown. I have never taken the rifle out of the bedding. It's in there pretty tight and I did want to take it out just to see who manufactured the op rod.
Asking (was $1950.00) $1800.00 plus shipping.
The rifle MUST be shipped to your FFL.
