Custom Hard Case

I saw a similar case at Cabelas last week, and was thinking about doing something similar for my M1A. Thanks for the great article!

Nice job. Best price I've seen on the 1750 is $204 with free freight from Amazon.

Guess you can get several foam kits and cut each for a different rifle. Assuming you don't take the different rifles with you, at the same time, you save a good bundle of $$. Foam is less expensive than cases!

Also saw a YouTube, I believe h was a Pelican factory guy, who customized his foam using a $10 electric kitchen knife. Worked great for him but it may have been his one hundredeth customizing job too.

Anyway great job....hope mine turns out half as well.

I have a green case that I plan on doing this to as well. Now I have a great example to utilize! I plan on getting a green XDm .40 in bi-tone with green to match the case and my new NM M1A to do a similar setup as you did.

The case came out great!

I have used the electric kitchen knife method for years and it works great! And its cheap. Why spend a $100.00 to cut a piece of foam?

I use my skinning knife to cut through the foam. The surgical blade just glides through the material like butter, just push it and no sawing action needed.

First of all, very nice job. Looks excellent.
I just picked up a Strom 330 today off of Craigslist for $80. It's missing the inner removable pieces of foam that you would normally cut. I want to use this for different guns at different times so this won't be a custon cut. The Storm amd Pelican replacement kits are in the $70 range so thats out. Any one know what the proper foam type is that I should be looking for? I know some absorb moisture which I don't want.
