PS. sorry this is clearly the wrong thread for that question but I saw the box and had to ask...
As far as I know, Springfield warrants the rifle for all 7.62 Nato and .308 factory ammo. This ammo is actually 118 Special Ball, but I would imagine is about the same on the gun as the new ammo is. The M118 SB was the ammo we used in my States marksmanship unit in our M14s and the Army used with the M21, so as far as I know should be fine. The ammo in the shot is mostly for photo purposes though as the rifle's regular diet consists of 147 gr ball, even though the 118 SB has produced some of the best groups with this rifle.

Painting the metal as well

I have a question about painting the metal part of a weapon.

I have been thinking about it for sometime, and I have seen pics here of others who have done it, so I decided to ask.

1) What are the necessary preperations that must be done to paint the metal parts of a weapon?

2) Are there any types of metal finish ( ie: parkerized, stainless steel, satin nickle, etc. ) that is not able to be painted?

3) What types of paint are best to use on a metal finish?

Here's an update on my M25. I took off the rail, having too much fun with the iron sights. Also put on Hawks selector switch dummy kit.

LRRP Scout

Just some photos of the new LRRP Scout - the handiwork of the good folks at Whamo Camo.

'Tis a great little piece and I'm still working on tuning small portions as I am able. For looks, it is only sitting on the bipod at this time. ** Now with the matching handguard...

Thanks from GARRARD

Maverick, VERY COOL RIFLE Sir!

That camo job is very well done. It really breaks up the lines of the rifle.

Thank you for the kind words Sir! Rick could tell you my excitement when he sent me the first photo after it was painted. It kept me mentally sound while having to wait for the mail delivery.

Ah yes ...

The letters BHD (as in Black Hawk Down) come to mind from long long ago ...
Gave it up back then after my idea was "stolen" by a former partner
and competitor.

No biggie tho ... don't really care any more.

Looks good and very close ...
