Nice build! I love the scout hand guard. How do you like it? Im going to be getting one and in IMO its the best looking one out there and the most low profile. I use their casm gen 2 scope mount and love it. Im happy with its performance so ill give the hand guard a go.

Thanks from Beepermac

So far so good on the M14CA hand guard. With the low rings I don't need a cheek riser at all. I needed to crank about 10 MOA elevation to zero at 100 yds but it was aligned nearly perfect latterally and the factory zero on the scope was pretty much there. It looks sharp as well. I can't compare to other scout handguard type mounts but I'm perfectly happy with this. Only have 37 rounds down range but nothing is loose as of yet.

Thanks from sstephen88

Glad that FGMM worked for you, the american eagle that says for M1A on the box is cheaper and really close to the same thing if you find some on sale grab it up.

Thanks from Beepermac

I agree, the AE 168 "For M1A" is a reasonably priced alternative to the Fed GM 168.

That's awesome. They look so good. is there any wiggle or play in it like the POS plastic one that comes stock on it or does it stay snug?

It's very snug. I can feel no movement whatsoever. I need to check to see if everything is still tight when I break it down, and I'll give a report. There are 3 attachment clamps for lack of a better word. Each clamp has 4 Allen type screws on which I used blue lock tight. In some applications(different stocks)you use only the forward and aft clamps, but I believe the instructions recommended all three for the tightest hold. It's pretty darn solid and appeared to be lined up very near perfect with the barrel. It only fits on a GI profile barrel BTW.

Post a five or seven shot group. Might give you a better idea where you are.

Sweet Scout, how is it grouping as it settles in?

I have the same Leupold scope, on quick detach Leupold QRW rings, but I also bought a Burris 2-7x scout scope to use at the range with its higher magnification, mostly to test different ammo more consistently at 100 yards. The Leup is a better scope and lives on the rifle, the Burris is my weekend "range toy".

I found that my Scout doesn't care for the American Eagle 7.62x51 "Made for M1A" ammo. Consistent, but won't group it tighter than about 3" at 100 yds. It shoots great with the Federal Gold Match inside 2", but it prefers Black Hills match ammo over the Federal. And it's all-time favorite factory ammo by far is the standard Hornady Match 168 grain Boat Tail Hollow Point (BTHP), which can get her down to just over 1MOA if I do my part. At 50 yards, I can consistently get three bullets into the same ragged .4" to .7" cloverleaf with that Hornady 168 BTHP. I have four rifles that love that Hornady ammo, including my National Match and a heavy barrel bolt gun I shoot at much further distances, so I stock up on it every time it goes on sale online.
