The stock is the typical open grain as-issued oil finish.

Finally made it to the range. Sunny, 45 degrees, 10-15 mph winds. Offhand resting on sandbags, hasty sling style.

The 3 shot group at the bottom was done with a bayonet mounted. Looks like a 2 moa difference in elevation.

What does "offhand resting on sandbags" mean? What ammo?

It means that I hold the forend and rest my off hand on the sandbag simply to steady it.

Some folks zero their rifles by laying the forend directly on the sandbag and use their offhand to support the butt. This can give you a different POI when shooting offhand.

I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised when shooting with a mounted bayonet. I was expecting a shotgun pattern.

Ah ha! off hand as you say is two words. Offhand as you noted first, means standing usually, or totally unsupported, thus my confusion. I got ya. Thanks.
